Living rent-free in Fred Whitaker’s head. Yes, we are at right on daily. One guaranteed way to get your ass kicked by right on daily is ignore and demean female victims of abuse. Another guaranteed way is backroom political deals. Fred checks these and so many other boxes.

Enjoy the comments on the OCGOP’s latest post about John Moorlach. Whoops.

As we’ve written several times – Trish Todd worked for John Moorlach when she was raped by Bill Brough.

Brough’s then Chief of Staff Tim Clark covered up the rape. Clark is still working with/for John Moorlach today as a campaign manager/consultant/advisor.

In 2014, Clark ran Bill Brough’s campaign for assembly. Brough raped Trish Todd in July of 2015. Clark was paid the rest of the money Brough owed him – some $44,000 in October of 2015.

John Moorlach claims to have never known about the rape – but was told about in August of 2020 and was forced to admit knowledge of it while blaming Right on Daily for ignoring the news.

John Moorlach smeared Trish Todd as a “disgruntled employee” and “not his best hire”. Fred Whitaker went a step further calling the allegations false and libel.

Right on Daily has posted photos of a Senate Proclamation prasing Mrs. Todd for her service and another letter signed by Moorlach talking about what a good employee she was and requesting a raise for her.

Fred Whitaker has had a terrible record dealing with victims of sexual misconduct. He attempted to stifle public notice of Lisa Bartlett’s disclosure of her abuse at the hands of Bill Brough some years earlier. The Right on Daily Blog broke the news and forced Fred Whitaker to have to deal with the issue against his will.

Now, John Moorlach is being held accountable for his moral failing. In particular, why was he so distant from his staff that his Chief of Staff could cover up the rape of one of his staff. Moorlach lied about foreknowledge of the public disclosure of the rape in November 2020. Moorlach lied about the victim, Tish Todd, smearing her along with Fred Whitaker. Moorlach is still employing / is affiliated with Tim Clark who covered up the rape.

Fred Whitaker is the Chairman of the OCGOP. He has been known for abusing his influence to rig party endorsements and doing closed door deals. This is how he got onto the Right on Daily radar screen. While disrepsecting and attacking female victims of Bill Brough’s actions and John Moorlach’s indifference – he is also promoting the Chairwoman of the CAGOP who has had nothing to say about Bill Brough, Mike Madrid (a co-founder of the Lincoln Project who was a delegate to the CAGOP) and a host of other problems within the CAGOP. (So much for women leaders meaning something – as pat Bates still defends Brough and Marie Waldron ran intereference for him for about 6 months before finally backing off)

Unfortunately for Fred Whitaker, John Moorlach and Tim Clark – Trish Todd has been a friend of my wife’s since 2013. This is indeed a mission to get justice for Trish Todd regardless of the egos of political people involved.

One example of Fred Whitaker on tilt would be the near hysterical email attacking Michael Vo and Kevin Muldoon – two other republican candidates for supervisor.

Now Whitaker has put $30,000 of his own money in to the OCGOP. Why? If Moorlach loses, Fred Whitaker’s credibility is shot. In my opinion, it is now. He also has been using his donor’s money to have his executive director call for proxies in Orange County on behalf of the failed Chairwoman as well.

I got in to the wrong country club. It must be nice to rage spend $30K on a candidate!

I have been told that the OCGOP is going to send “Member Communications” attacking Kevin Muldoon in particular because how dare he run against the wishes of the party bosses. They have decreed that a career politician that was so disconnected from his staff and reality that one of them was raped and he did not know about it for five years while continuing to employ the man that covered up the rape!

What other behavior are these guys tolerating?

P.S. Please note that I am stating things as fact regarding Trish Todd because I have seen the evidence and talked to the victim herself many times. I believe her account 100% therefore I am stating the accounts and evidence backing up the accounts as fact.

I will hand it to Fred Whitaker. His ego-feuled rampage is consistent. The tactics are consistent as well. The Orange County Republican Party By-Laws require notice for an endorsement. But tonight, that does not matter.

In a bout of logical gymnastics that reminds real people why politics is infested with attorneys, Fred Whitaker has figured out (he thinks) how to circumvent the OCGOP By-Laws.

Kermit Marsh is our parliamentarian, so you can take up any questions of rules/order with him.    I appreciate your passion, but as you know I’m supporting Jessica, and I believe well more than 2/3 on our committee does as well.  I know you have some supporters on the committee and I’m sure they will speak up for your position.    To address some of the concerns you raised, the resolution will likely be re-written to simply be one of support.  A resolution on an urgency basis requires 2/3 vote twice.   This is not the Endorsements process we have for electoral candidates.

Fred Whitaker may not understand the true leanings of the OCGOP if he thinks he has an easy 2/3 for the resolution. But – it also demonstrates that he has been on the phone trying to rig the outcome of tonight’s meeting. Like the CAGOP conventions, it appears OCGOP meetings are equally as contrived and scripted. There is also a clever lawyer trick to avoid the notice for an endorsement. Then there is the exchange between Steve Frank and the OCGOP Parlimentarian (another lawyer) Kermit Marsh:

The question is on endorsement.  Fred in his response to me said this was not an endorsement, but “support”.  Is that what this is?  When Fred sends out the press release Monday night, will those reading it know the technical difference between an endorsement and “support”?
It is actions like this that divide a Committee and force folks to rethink their involvement.

Hi Steve,
Hope you are well.  What is your question, to which you would like me to respond?  Please send me an email to let me know.
FYI, I have a busy schedule of meetings outside the office today, but I will try to check my emails when possible.  Looking forward to learning what it is you would like to know.
Best regards,
Kermit D. Marsh, Esq.
Only in the world of attorneys is a resolution of support and an endorsement different – by-laws be dammed. We in the Steve Frank campaign have friendly attorneys of our own and we got the following answer:
it is a 100% violation of the rules. It is an endorsement and requires a 2/3 vote.
Fred Whitaker did it again. The Jessica Patterson re-election campaign has established quite a pattern of flouting the rules across the board. More on that soon. Donald Trump, love him or hate him was right when he said, “The System is Rigged”.
Fred Whitaker has been caught pulling yet another smoke-filled-room jam job. Fire Fred Whitaker now.

Well, well, well. I guess Fred Whitaker really is on tilt and the calls for him to resign over his refusal to stand up for Bill Brough’s victims – in this case holding John Moorlach and his “volunteer” campaign manager Tim Clark accountable for covering up the rape of a former Senate Staffer of John Moorlach is more than Whitaker can handle.

Whitaker had to respond to the pounding of Right on Daily with an email that can only be titled – a bonfire of ego. As is our custom at Right on Daily, we will re-write the email for accuracy. Our comments are in italics. Get a good look at the embedded photo – this is who Moorlach and the OCGOP are ignoring.

Statement on the Special Election for Orange County Board of Supervisors, District 2

“The ballot is now set for the March 9, 2021 Special Election for Orange County Supervisor, District #2. The Republican Party of Orange County is solidly behind and will use all resources at its disposal to elect its endorsed candidate – Senator John Moorlach. We endorsed Moorlach with a behind the scenes action that included smearing the rape victim as a disgruntled former employee that was not credible. We urge you to ignore multiple media stories and the criminal investigation that is ongoing.

Senator Moorlach has a 25 year career protecting the taxpayer, and solving difficult problems. Including ignoring his staff and being indifferent to them. To safely reopen our economy, and solve the problems at the county, no one is better situated that John Moorlach. Except when it comes to addressing the ethical and moral failures of his staff. His main opponent is Progressive Socialist Democrat – Mayor of Costa Mesa – Katrina Foley. Just drive through the homeless encampments in Costa Mesa, and experience the only city in the county where police are citing businesses for being open – and you will experience what is coming to Orange County if she is elected.

Republicans are uniformly commenting on social media that three Republicans risk electing Katrina Foley. It is a very real concern. We did our part to make this a reality because we refused to acknowledge the moral failure of John Moorlach, choosing instead to double down on one of our favorites regardless of merit.

We thank Mayor Will O’Neil of Newport Beach, Councilman Erik Petersen of Huntington Beach, and Councilman Mike Posey of Huntington Beach – all good Republican council members who sacrificed their ambitions for the greater conservative cause and governance in Orange County. They realized that John Moorlach is the only one that polls close to Katrina Foley and with 25 years of voter’s in the Second District supporting him in public office – the only one that in a short 45 day campaign can win. But the same polls show that John Moorlach collapses once voters are informed of his indifference to and the cover up of the rape of one of his senate staff by his now campaign manager.

We  condemn the selfishness of Mayor Michael Vo of Fountain Valley and Councilman Kevin Muldoon of Newport Beach. They have let their egos be played by public service unions and political consultants all hoping to profit from this race. Polling was shared in particular with Mr. Muldoon that showed that his best result was to be a spoiler and not a victor.  He told many that he would not be a spoiler, and yet he still decided to run. We do, however, give John Moorlach a pass for the horrific way he has addressed the scandal that has engulfed him.

We urge all Republicans in the Second District to vote for John Moorlach and reject the candidacies of Muldoon and Vo. Every dollar given and every door walked for those campaigns works to elect Katrina Foley. We will repeat this lie as long as is needed so we can blame someone else for our intransigence and refual to admit a mistake with our rigged endorsement of John Moorlach

If Republicans unite behind the one candidate that can beat Katrina Foley, we will win. If Republicans follow the egos of politicians we risk losing. We need all Republicans to come together. We did it in the 2019 and 2015 special elections for Supervisor when lesser Republicans followed their egos and not the data. We need to reject John Moorlach as he has been in office for 25 years, voted to raise taxes many times and is indifferent to the rape of one of his former Senate Staffers.

With your help, we can do it again. Support John Moorlach.”

Blogger’s Note: Fred Whitaker is in a bear trap of his own making and lashing out at people for not towing the line for a fatally flawed candidate is laughable – especially when he is knee deep in the victim-shaming smears himself. Ego is a deadly character defect and it is having a splatter effect all over the OCGOP. We’re not done with the OCGOP or the good ‘ols boys network down there, not by a longshot. However it is nice to know that similar to last year with the Bill Brough saga, I have their attention again.

Jan 252021

The rape of Trish Todd, frankly the entire William “Bill” Brough saga and all of its’ tenticles are a great case study for why the OCGOP is now in second place in Orange County. It is intellectually lazy to blame slippage from 66% of the vote in 2004 for HW Bush to 45% for Trump in 2020 on Demographics only. It is also easy and intellectually lazy to look at regaining a couple seats in congress (while the people in charge let Bryan Maryott, Greg Raths and Diane Dixon swing) as anything other than an aberration. The deterioration of the OCGOP has been consistent. Congressman Tom Campbell lit up the entire narrative being pushed by the feckless GOP establishment.

The first photo is Brough with his portable bar and Whitaker is in the second photo, memed forever.

I was first immersed in the protect all incumbents regardless of merit culture of the OCGOP in 2016. I was and have been aghast at the fealty towards incumbents that is the order of the day. John Moorlach had defeated Don Wagner for State Senate. Wagner had near unanimous support for his run in 2015 and the very same people the following year all lined up behind Moorlach because he was the incumbent – while making the same complaints about Moorlach being arrogant, acerbic, useless to the party and the like. In fact, Wagner had enough money to primary challenge Moorlach. I learned a couple of years later from a former employee of Don Wagner that a couple stakeholders literally threatened to spend millions destroying him personally and politically – all for John Moorlach not because they liked Moorlach, but how dare Wagner challenge the status quo.

Don Wagner for his part is now an Orange County Supervisor. I wonder if the same people that supported Wagner for Senate in 2015, threatened to wreck him in 2016 went off and supported him in 2020? These same luminaries are lining up the deck chairs to coronate Diane Harkey supervisor in 2022 despite Harkey having a lexis nexis report in excess of 300 pages. (speaking of documentation)

That culture is the backdrop for why it took me hundreds of hours of research and blogging relentlessly to crack the nearly psychotic grip of fealty to incumbents in Orange County.

None of them seem to give a rip about the victims at all. But at least the recent media scrutiny has forced a lot of these arrogant fools back in to their spider holes as they would all rather die than accept the humiliation of admitting a mistake. Mistakes that may elect the crazed Katrina Foley supervisor.

In April of 2019, I was called by someone that was inside the closed session of the Orange County Republican Party when now supervisor Lisa Bartlett finally came public with her 2011 story of abuse at the hands of Bill Brough. Fred Whitaker tried to cover it up, asking everyone there to “Keep it in the family”.

Along came Right on Daily.

After Bill Brough outed two of the victims, they asked to meet with Fred Whitaker in an attempt to explain their side of the story – while Whitaker was trying to hide and while the feckless Assembly GOP Minority Leader Marie Waldron was trying to protect Bill Brough. (so much for women in leadership)

It took three months and when Whitaker finally met with them, he understood finally these women were for real. So is Lisa Bartlett, Maria Elena Banks and an anonymous capitol staffer who spoke to the LA Times.

Then along came Trish Todd who told me her story long before John Moorlach lost his seat in the State Senate. (A seat that Don Wagner would have held easily)

Well guess what happened? The OCGOP closed ranks around one of their good ole’ boys once again. This time, they went a step further pre-emptively smearing Trish Todd who came forward with actionable and verifable evidence she was raped by Bill Brough. In one of the amazing things that happens in the small world of politics, their multi-million dollar hero from the 1990’s happened to be her employer when she was raped and his then Cheif of Staff is still his campaign manager. Whoops.

Now protecting incumbents and members of the club has crossed from cowardly threats behind closed doors to wreck Don Wagner, to interfering with efforts to hold Bill Brough accountable, to straight out smearing a rape victim to cover up the moral failure of John Moorlach. The lynchpin of this is Tim Clark, who worked for Bill Brough in 2014, Covered up the Rape in 2015 and is now still close to Moorlach’s current campaign (reputedly he is running it despite being a “volunteer”). Clark is alleged to be the source of the smears against Trish Todd and Moorlach’s behavior as more facts have been known illustrate that he was a terrible employer and even today his double speak on the issue itself indicates he does not care.

Great pick OCGOP.

I have Trish Todd’s entire personnel file. I can draw the conclusion that the Orange County Register did not follow up on their story about the smears because the Personnel file shows that John Moorlach lied to the Orange County Register. They would be forced to admit they made a mistake by endorsing Moorlach. Editorial Boards are no different than stakeholders in that regard.

While Todd has been friends with my wife (again the super tiny world of politics) since 2013, I did not know that she had such a long career in the Sacramento Capitol – THAT SHE LOST AFTER  GETTING RAPED. Her experience included Senator Abel Maldonado who promoted her, the late Dave Cox, and several years working for the Caucus itself. I’ve spoken to people I know that are still there in Sacramento and they all have nothing but positive things to say. Todd’s personnel file was putting me to sleep it was so boring. This is hardly the stuff of a disgruntled employee. She worked in the capitol from 2003 to 2016.

Trish also sent me this email she sent the Orange County Register as a follow up to the first story about the “disgruntled employee smear”:

I gave John Moorlach every opportunity to correct the smears and lies he told about a rape victim that worked loyally and hard for him. I also had hoped he would reach out and offer some sympathy and help now that he knows what happened to me while I worked for him. But, sadly nothing. In my letter, I told John Moorlach he had until last Thursday to tell the world the supposed negative things he claimed he and his staff had put in my personnel file. He told the Orange County Register Editorial Board he was not supportive of hiring me and he had to deal with poor performance by me and these were documented in my personnel file.“

“He knew what I knew. That was a complete lie. He also could not do anything to correct the record because despite my giving him a complete release to disclose my personnel file, there was not anything in there he claimed was in there. So, I am now releasing it to the public.”

“So, what is in the file? For openers there is a letter signed by John Moorlach when I was hired, praising me lavishly for my advanced skills and stating I was going to be his “defacto Deputy Chief of Staff” and urging the Senate to give me a higher salary than I was otherwise entitled to receive.  John Moorlach’s handwritten notes on my resume are attached. Yet he told the Orange County Register Editorial Board that he opposed my hiring? Really?”

“He also lied to the Editorial Board and claimed there were adverse performance reviews from him or Tim Clark. Again, a complete lie. There is not a single negative performance review of any kind in my file.”

“Finally, John Moorlach, as is the case with many career politicians, uses tax payer money for ridiculous boondoggles. In this case, the Outdoor Sporting Caucus, now just a name on the senate website, of which John Moorlach was then a member, had me arrange a skeet shooting event for Senate and Assembly Members and their staff. It was a ticketed event due to the limited number of shooting bays. Tim Clark, who was no longer on John Moorlach’s staff, and other staff who did not have reservations to the event were still disgruntled they could not attend. However, on the day of the event no elected Assembly Members or Senators were turned away from this event.”

“I eventually learned the hard way that John Moorlach will not promote or give raises to female staff nor will he protect them when they are in harm’s way.”

Please note – I have a copy of the resume’ with Moorlach’s handwriting on it. See it below. Please also note there is not one negative review of her ANYWHERE in the 13 year long file. Not. One. Tim Clark Lied, John Moorlach Lied. Perhaps this is why Moorlach was counseled to shut up.
I checked the transparent California website. It appears that John Moorlach had few female employees and based on what I saw none of them had anything other than a cost-of-living pay adjustment while working for him. (Not to mention a boss that covered up sexual assaults, but I digress)
I read a two-page document related to the skeet shooting event referenced above. It is very typical of what the Senate Rules Committee used to do Pre Me-Too with any sort of complaints by staff (or against staff). It was clear that someone (identified by Trish as Tim Clark) attempted to smear her. Not coincidentally, Trish separated from service shortly after that event. Did I metntion that Tim Clark is a morally corrupt man? She got raped, it was covered up and the last thing in her file was an attempt to smear her by Tim Clark. Just wow. Did I mention that Clark is still affiliated with John Moorlach’s current campaign and helped him lose his State Senate race?
Tim Clark lied to the Orange County Republican Party – alternating between calling Trish a liar and telling others that she was not credible. Other communication I have received indicated that my 11-21-2020 blog detailing the rape with more specific information than the 6-1-2020 post was a “Smear” and a “Political Attack”. Anyone that attacked the victim is going to get their ass kicked by the Right On Daily Blog, resign now or it is coming. Trish got raped. Heather Baez was sexually Battered, Lisa Bartlett has nightmares, Jennifer Alizeri was harassed, an unnamed Dem Staffer was cornered, a realtor from South OC was propositioned and touched – AND MANY OCGOP LEADERS IGNORED SOME OR ALL OF THE ISSUES! How many more women did Bill Brough abuse because these people did nothing?
I’m reaching out to you to ask a personal favor, because we are at a critical point.  The absolutely false accusation against Sen. Moorlach is threatening the ability of the party to unite behind one candidate for this special election,…
I personally, think the blog was sent out just to sow disarray in the party by those that want to see us divided, since they know we can’t unite behind one of the others.  I know you know how it feels to be wrongly accused and have libel sent out against you.   Please help John fight this. Would you please “reply” that we can count your email as support for Sen Moorlach’s endorsement?   I appreciate the consideration.
Fred Whitaker, resign now. If Katrina Foley gets elected supervisor, you own it.
Good Bye John Moorlach. Your political career is over. You can’t win.
Tim Clark, I am younger than you and I am patient. Wherever you pop up in politics, I will be there.
About that resume’: (Note Moorlach’s notes on the resume’) – I redacted her phone and email off of the document.

Fire them all.

This is Trish Todd

The Voice of OC followed up on the last Orange County Register story about John Moorlach and crew smearing Trish Todd – who I believe was raped by the Sociopathic Bill Brough in 2015.

We’ve been laying out the timeline and facts while Fred Whitaker has accused her (and your intrepid blogger) of libel, Clark has allegedly been calling people and both Clark and Moorlach have been taking a bath in a pigsty. Moorlach and Clark’s comments to the media have been absurd. They are in a five-star mess of their  own making.

But when he was asked about allegations that his chief of staff told Todd not to report the rape allegations, Moorlach told the Orange County Register during an editorial endorsement meeting that Todd was a “disgruntled” employee who was not his “best hire.”

Todd says that was an attempt to smear her reputation.

“[Moorlach] told the Orange County Register Editorial Board he was not supportive of hiring me and he had to deal with poor performance by me and these were documented in my personnel file,” Todd said in a statement this week.

“[Moorlach] knew what I knew. That was a complete lie,” Todd added. “He also could not do anything to correct the record because despite my giving him a complete release to disclose my personnel file, there was not anything in there he claimed was in there.”

Through a representative, Todd released documents from her personnel file – including a letter from Moorlach saying “her skill set is far advanced,” so she should be paid an amount that’s “higher than her current salary would allow.”

For those of you unable to click on the link to the letter John Moorlach wrote praising his “disgruntled” former employee – I decided to provide a nice screenshot of it.

So, it looks like John Moorlach is a filthy liar along with Fred Whitaker and Tim Clark – both of whom were reputed to be telling people on the OCGOP during the jam-down of their endorsement of John Moorlach that the “Rape Stuff” was from a source that was not credible and/or a disgruntled former employee.

Now we know why Moorlach has been as quiet as a church mouse lately after digging himself a rehtorical trench for the last two months:

Moorlach declined to comment Thursday on Todd’s allegations about how he handled her rape claims, and whether he feels he handled the situation appropriately.

“I’ve been counseled not to talk,” Moorlach told Voice of OC.

It looks like Tim Clark missed the memo when he was whining to the Orange County Register what a victim he was/is last week in the first story about Trish Todd’s personnel file.

But – it appears that Fred Whitaker is back in his spider hole as well:

Orange County GOP Chairman Fred Whitaker, who has been trying to unite Republican voters around Moorlach, didn’t return phone messages seeking comment on the allegations and whether the party is investigating.

Ego is a powerful and destructive force. The defect in most people about how they’d rather die or get wrecked than admit fault or change course recurs with alarming frequency in politics.

Enter the OC Communist Party:

“By continuing to stand with John Moorlach despite months of overwhelming allegations, the OC GOP is perpetuating a toxic attitude toward women,” said Ada Briceño, chairwoman of the Orange County Democratic Party, in a statement earlier this week.

“It’s wrong, and it’s up to all of us to change it. The OC GOP should rescind its endorsement of John Moorlach; it is the morally responsible thing to do,” she continued.

Moorlach’s “professional retribution” against Todd makes him “unfit to represent any Orange County resident in public office,” she added.

Allow me to express my shock that I am in agreement with the OC Dem Party on all counts of the previous snippet. Shame on the OCGOP for being asleep at the switch.

Then there is this:

“I believe her, and I’m grieved by the pain she carries to this day,” Moorlach said in the opinion piece, regarding Todd’s rape claim against Brough.

“You can only look with respect at the bravery of any woman who files charges alleging rape and willingly suffers that deep loss of privacy to stop a criminal.”

Three days later, Moorlach described Todd to the Register as a “disgruntled” employee who was “assertive,” “strong willed” and not his “best hire.”

Whoops. Click here to see Trish Todd’s open letter to John Moorlach that Moorlach is hiding from replying to.

Now the behavior of these people is pulling down the entire OCGOP, all because they were so fully invested in a political has-been they refuse to see the flaws in.

There’s more coming on the Trish Todd story as I have her entire personnel file now.
