Tim Clark is a victim don’t you know. He is being slandered (it is actually called libel if it is in writing) according to his whiny comments in the Orange County Register today.

The Orange County Register followed up on a letter Trish Todd sent to your intrepid blogger calling Tim Clark and John Moorlach out for smearing her. Read that letter here and read it carefully. Note that as of 7PM 1-13-2021 Moorlach has not responded. Todd alleuded to Tim Clark’s professional relationship with Bill Brough, the monster alleged to have raped her. (even a complete sociopath like Brough is presumed innocent in court despite what I think of him) I think Tim Clark is a slimebag. While discussing this with Mrs. Todd this weekend, she also sent me some text messages causing me to discover these gems on the California Secertary of State’s website:

From Bill Brough’s 2014 Campaign Finance Reports

The Register also has learned that Clark and Brough had a previous working connection.

State records show that Clark worked as a consultant on Brough’s 2014 campaign for Assembly, months before Todd told him about the rape. In 2014, Brough paid Clark’s consulting firm $14,141. Two years later — months after Todd told Clark about the alleged rape — Brough paid Clark’s firm an additional $42,682.

Clark said the payments were for his work handling voter contact during Brough’s 2014 campaign. He said the larger 2016 payment was for that same work, and noted that it shows up in Brough’s 2014 records because it took place during that period. The second payment could be what’s known as a “win bonus,” which is commonly earned by political consultants if their candidate wins an election.

So now there is a double nexus for the ethically and morally challenged Tim Clark to have covered up the rape. Brough was a paying client and Moorlach is and has been Tim Clark’s meal ticket. Cozy.

It would actually be libel to call Tim Clark ethical or trustworthy.

These payments were made AFTER Tim Clark covered up the rape of Trish Todd

Your Intrepid blogger tore in to Tim Clark and his years-long pattern of questionable behavior. This is why I am not surprised one bit that Clark would cover up a rape to protect a paycheck, smear the rape victim and of course claim victimhood when called out on it. Unfortunately, the Orange County Register was not able to get an Orange County GOP member on the record to substantiate that Clark was calling people. The best we have thus far is Fred Whitaker’s email and John Moorlach:

In a Dec. 15 meeting with members of the Orange County Register’s editorial board, with a reporter also present, Moorlach said he believed Clark’s version of events. He called Todd a “disgruntled” employee. He said she was “assertive” and “strong willed” and not his “best hire.” When pressed for details of what he meant, Moorlach said he wasn’t allowed to comment further on personnel matters, but directed the Register to Todd’s Senate employment file for alleged evidence of his complaints.

John Moorlach is going to live to eat these words. They will be the end of his political career. In the words of Trish Todd:

During a December 2020 interview with the Orange County Register Editorial Board, who wanted to re-interview you about their endorsement when this matter came to light, you spoke to them on the record and with their reporters present.

Rather than focusing on what happened and what you could do now to bring the perpetrators to justice, you tried to victim shame me.  For example:

  • You told them that you had not been supportive of hiring me
  • You stated I was a disgruntled former employee that wanted to be your Chief of Staff
  • You claimed there were problems with my performance when I worked for you

Finally, you falsely told the Editorial Board and reporter proof of all this was in my confidential state senate personnel file.

We both know none of what you said was true. You did not fear contradiction because you knew the Orange County Register could not get a copy of my personnel file under state law and you also knew it was illegal for you to even tell the Orange County Register what was in it without my permission. A line you crossed because you did not think you would get caught.

In order to clear up any legal or ethical restraints you may claim about finally telling the truth, I hereby release you from all privacy protections I have regarding my personnel file.

I am happy to sign anything reasonable confirming you are so released.  Of course, I expect you to now tell the world by Thursday, January 14, 2021 the truth about what you claim is in my file.

In my previous post about Tim Clark, I wrote the following:

If you think that Clark’s cover up of the rape of Trish Todd was about anything other than trying to stop bad news for his boss who was brand new in the senate at the time, you do not understand the moral and emotional corruption of that man. Healthy people would have dealt with the issue head on, and helped the victim. Not Clark. He threw her under the bus. So did John Moorlach. They should both be removed far, far away from anything resembling political authority.

This past weekend, I discovered the rest of the story. Tim Clark was William “Bill” Brough’s campaign consultant in his 2014 Assembly Campaign. Right now, he is a “volunteer” for John Moorlach for Supervisor. Uh-huh.

Trish Todd got Raped, John Moorlach didn’t give a shit. Tim Clark covered it up. Todd wrote:

Upon my departure you never said goodbye or called to ask why I was leaving.  A little compassion and humanity from the person I respected would have helped in my long recovery journey.

What did you do? Instead of helping or reaching out to me, you claimed that you blindly believed Tim Clark, despite his being at the time not just your Chief of Staff, but also on Bill Brough’s campaign payroll.

Good Bye John Moorlach. Your political career is over. Tim Clark, I am younger than you and I am patient.

To be continued…

With Trish Todd publicly calling John Moorlach Out – this blog from a few weeks ago is even more timely than it ever was before. This was originally posted 12-7-2020.

I am starting to wonder if it is time to write a series of blogs about why it sucks to be John Moorlach. Because it has to suck to be him right now.

How much is the Sheriff’s Union going to spend now!?

John Moorlach is covered in political tar. He is rolling in it. His recent Moorlach Update had several gems in it. (By Comission and Omission, by the way)

The Orange County Register lit John Moorlach up over not knowing and not caring about the rape of a former staffer of his. One key point in the article was a call Moorlach got from former Senator Dick Ackerman inquiring about the incident, based on a 6-1-2020 blog post from yours truly.

Dick’s memory of the call went further than mine, and I could not recall the remainder of the conversation when asked by the reporter. But, yesterday, I did some digging in my files and found my notes about the call. According to them, Dick did mention the blog, that an investigation of Brough was still ongoing in the State Assembly and that the blogpost reported someone in my office had been assaulted. The blog is one that so often makes scurrilous attacks on office holders and others without back-up information, as many websites do. Because I’ve read countless unsubstantiated stories in blogs like this over the years, I tend to discount them.

More importantly, I had heard absolutely nothing about these accusations from anyone over five years, so my instinct would have been to consider them baseless and just more trading in destructive, ugly rumors.

Did you get all that? IT’S ALL YOUR INTREPID BLOGGER’S FAULT!

I do find it amazing that nowhere in any of his comments is any outrage about Tim Clark covering up the rape. Moorlach admitted his continuing affiliation with Clark in the Orange County Register Story however.

It is however, consistent with the CAGOP “Chairwoman” saying nothing about Bill Brough’s actual actions or the victims in public comments. It is, however consistent with Marie Waldron (the Assembly Leader) saying nothing at all about anything Brough. And it is sadly consistent with the behind-the-scenes smears of the rape victim by Tim Clark and Fred Whitaker.

In summary – John Moorlach says he knew nothing about the rape of his staffer.
John Moorlach now knows that Tim Clark (then his Chief of Staff and current campaign consultant) covered it up.
John Moorlach has said nothing about Clark and still affiliates/employs him.
John Moorlach is told about the rape by Dick Ackerman.
Moorlach ignores said rape because he does not like your intrepid blogger.

Keep digging Johnny. Yikes.

P.S. John – don’t be mad at your intrepid blogger, just look at these blogs like I’m giving you a political noogie. Because I care.

Note that Neither Marie Waldron nor Jessica Patterson, the vaunted “Chairwoman” of the CAGOP have had a thing to say publicly as of 1-12-2021 about Assemblyman Bill Brough’s rampage against women. So much for the Woman leaders we were supposed to celebrate.

Trish Todd is the likeness in this meme

Blogger’s Note: I have been clear from the outset that beyond political connections, I have a personal relationship with Trish Todd, the rape victim of Bill Brough. As such, She forwarded me a copy of a letter she sent to Senator John Moorlach for whom she worked when she was raped and the subesquent cover up. This letter has not been edited and is reposted in its’ entirety. Trish Todd deserves justice, not being smeared out of political convenience.

Dear Senator Moorlach,

I proudly worked for you as a member of your small team in your capitol office from 2015 – 2016.  I was honored that you called me your “de facto Chief of Staff.” I respected you, worked hard, and was loyal.

As you have also heard reported, I was the victim of a brutal sexual assault by Assemblymember Bill Brough, while on your staff. Both you and Tim Clark, your Chief of Staff, admit I told Tim about the rape shortly thereafter.  Instead of reporting it, Tim Clark covered it up.

You told the press that you did not know about the rape or the coverup until November 3, 2020 (conveniently Election Day). You wrote profusely and claimed that you cared passionately about sexual assault and would fight against it in any way you could.

When Senator Ackerman stepped forward and said he had discussed it with you months earlier, you were forced to admit after referring to your “notes” what you had said was untrue and instead said you “forgot” a State Senator had told you I had been raped by another legislator.

Really? You forgot that someone of Senator Ackerman’s stature had told you a member of your team had been raped by Bill Brough? When you first heard about this, why didn’t you help or protect me? If you cared so much, why in the months since didn’t you ever even pick up the phone and ask me what happened?

Upon my departure you never said goodbye or called to ask why I was leaving.  A little compassion and humanity from the person I respected would have helped in my long recovery journey.

What did you do? Instead of helping or reaching out to me, you claimed that you blindly believed Tim Clark, despite his being at the time not just your Chief of Staff, but also on Bill Brough’s campaign payroll.

Far more deplorably, you did what many politicians do when a cover up of a sexual assault is exposed; you began to smear me behind the scenes.

I am happy to sign anything reasonable confirming you are so released.  Of course, I expect you to now tell the world by Thursday, January 14, 2021 the truth about what you claim is in my file. We both know every single thing in my file from you is complimentary and positive. There is nothing there from you or anyone in your office that is negative in any way. In fact, there are also the numerous thank you letters and cards from constituents.

This is the least you can do for one of your team members who served you loyally and was so let down by you and your office.

Sincerely yours,

Trish Todd

Do note that Moorlach still has not called nor attempted to contact Trish Todd the former staffer of his that was raped by Bill Brough.

Michael Schroeder, the former chairman for the California Republican Party, is legally representing Todd through the criminal complaint process.

“I only met Trish about a month ago. Once I became convinced that this happened, it felt like somebody needed to do something,” Schroeder said. “I think there’s a culture of silencing victims in Sacramento that Brough has been able to take advantage of for years.”

Bill Brough’s home paper picked up the story.

I wrote previously that having Tim Clark do crisis communications for a candidate is like inviting Michael Jackson to chaperone your son’s slumber party. Here we go again:

For five years, I did not know about the alleged attack on Ms. Todd. I would never protect Brough or any man so accused. It’s not in my DNA. You know me as someone who has tried throughout his career to tell you the truth, even when it was uncomfortable for many to hear it.

One minor clarification to the OC Register editorial below: I have not engaged a political consultant for my Supervisorial campaign. I have known Tim Clark as a man of good character. Tim says he encouraged Ms. Todd to report the incident to the proper authorities and he referred her to competent legal counsel.

So Moorlach is starting to whine on his update site – comparing the Trish Todd situation and himself to Brett Kavanaugh. This level of delusion is grounds for a therapist’s office, and not a candidate for supervisor. It was proven that Brett Kavanaugh’s accusers were lying (at least 3 of them). Trish Todd is quite credible and has a ton of evidence to support her claim.

Perhaps this bizarre comparison drawn by Moorlach means he thinks Trish Todd is lying? Tim Clark has changed history, as I was told my Mrs. Todd multiple times that Clark told her NOT to go to anyone with the complaint and that her career would be ruined. This is consistent with the Pre #METOO culture and Trish is not the only assaulted woman told the same thing.

Either Tim Clark is lying or Trish Todd is lying given the way Moorlach has framed things – Moorlach has made it clear where he stands “I have known Tim Clark as a man of good character”. You can read another radically different view of Tim Clark here (with evidence and several sources mind you). Thus, the claim that John Moorlach says Trish Todd is lying stands and Moorlach now owns it. Perhaps in his mind this makes him Brett Kavanaugh. In my mind, it makes him look nuts. There are a variety of ways to handle this situation and listening to Tim Clark who has a vested interest in wrecking Trish Todd to save himself is just plain dumb.

But then there is the other issue: “For five years, I did not know about the alleged attack on Ms. Todd.”

What man of Good Character would hide an attack on an employee of his boss from his boss? I’m sorry Mr. Moorlach, you can’t spin this one and this is indefensible and shreds the Good Character canard.

John Moorlach may well have figured out what happened to Trish Todd had he had any level of a relationship with her. She worked for him for 16 months after getting raped by Bill Brough. When she quit, Moorlach could have called and asked why? At any time, during the entire time she worked for him Moorlach could have engaged in small talk, which is usual and customary for good employers to do with employees – a relationship of trust and regard for an employee may well have empowered Trish to tell John directly what happened.

Instead the stories I hear about Mr. Moorlach indicate a socially awkward, distant man. (Nothing immoral there, many people like that survive well in the world) However, on some level there is responsbility that Moorlach himself shirked, beyond giving a pass to a “Man of Good Character” that hid the Rape of one of his employees from him for 5 years!

Then of course there is the smear campaign Tim Clark and Fred Whitaker ran against Trish Todd two weekends ago in order to clear a path for the OCGOP to commit suicide and endorse Moorlach’s latest quest for office. Remember, we are dealing with a “Man of Good Character” that told OCGOP people that Trish Todd was not credible and/or was lying. In the words of Fred Whitaker:

I’m reaching out to you to ask a personal favor, because we are at a critical point.  The absolutely false accusation against Sen. Moorlach is threatening the ability of the party to unite behind one candidate for this special election, where only one more vote wins. The Democrats have only one candidate – Katrina Foley.   We have 4 candidates, and now even Diane Dixon says she wants to run because of the allegations against Moorlach.  That would be 5 Republicans (three City Council members from Newport and one from Huntington Beach and Sen. Moorlach).   I have commitments from two of our candidates they will withdraw for Moorlach, but not the others.   Once we show courage, others will follow.

I believe that if we consolidate behind Sen. Moorlach, we will have the most well-known candidate as the only candidate. We cannot say that with the others in the race – the city council members will not get out for each other and they are not known past their cities.    John Moorlach as always fought the principled fight. We need to fight for him.

I personally, think the blog was sent out just to sow disarray in the party by those that want to see us divided, since they know we can’t unite behind one of the others.  I know you know how it feels to be wrongly accused and have libel sent out against you.   Please help John fight this. Would you please “reply” that we can count your email as support for Sen Moorlach’s endorsement?   I appreciate the consideration.

Given that the woman leaders of the California Republican Party have been as silent as Church Mice about the rampage of Bill Brough, including the rape of Trish Todd, I am not surprised at this intransigence. However, the voters can certainly let all these folks know how they feel at the ballot box. God help the OCGOP with people like this in charge.

Dec 082020

When I started in on Bill Brough, it took almost 5 months to get anyone anywhere near leadership to acknowledge there was a problem.

Fred Whitaker did not even attempt to ask questions until late October of 2020. The CAGOP Hid behind the OCGOP, with nothing more than tepid, carefully worded public comments. In fact, as of the writing of this blog, the CAGOP “Chairwoman” has said NOTHING specific to the women abused by Bill Brough. The OCGOP finally endorsed against brough in November with the delay due in no small part to Whitaker’s failure to lead and extreme reticnce to acknowledge the mountain of evidence forming agiainst Brough + the back end pressure from Republican “leadership” to protect a leadership vote for Waldron.

The CAGOP waited until 2-8-2020 to follow suit. Again, as of 12-7-2020 there has been no public communication from the CAGOP about Bill Brough’s conduct nor the victims. I thought we were supposed to celebrate the first “Latina” Chairwoman of the CAGOP? I think Bill Brough’s victims (3 of whom are Latina, by the way) missed the memo about how great that was supposed to be.

I knew via multiple sources, (Staffers, Consultants, Lobbyists, etc) that Marie Waldron (The GOP Assembly Permanent Minority Leader) was running interference for Bill Brough until the stench got so bad even she had to get out of the way. In fact, Brough was able to keep his cush committee assignments until May of 2020 when the Workplace Conduct Unit finally validated some of the myriad claims against Brough. Why? Marie Waldron was too much of a coward to remove him herself, telling several people she was afraid of him and that he still had several months left on his term.

Perhaps that fear is grounded in part by the largely useless Workplace Conduct Unit. This is the same unit that is now concerned about Trish Todd, yet they dispensed with the Heather Baez claim and have resisted PRA Attempts for transparency repeatedly. I wonder how many rape/misconduct claims are languishing because it is either about covering up for democrats or their mandate is a limited joke? If something as obvious as Baez is dismissed, I shudder to think what is happening right now.

So you have the “Chairwoman”, the feckless Minority Leader (both women that had nothing to say about Brough) and the Workplace Conduct Unit refusing to defend women.

Then there’s Fred Whitaker. He was smearing Trish Todd along with Tim Clark in order to set the table for the OCGOP’s suicidal endorsement of John Moorlach. Moorlach’s defense regarding the cover up of the rape of Trish Todd has been “I didn’t know”, yet when told, his defense shifted to “It’s all the blogger’s fault”.

What is Fred Whitaker’s defense? Blame your intrepid blogger, too?

Both Moorlach and Whitaker made a fatal error, they trusted Tim Clark. And while Clark is inexplicibly still employed by Moorlach (and this will be a key campaign issue against Moorlach), Whitaker has yet to say a thing now that we know the Rape victim is credible and legitimate.

Let’s let Fred Whitaker’s own words hang him. (BTW – I have several people that will go on the record about Clark smearing the rape victim if needed)

We cannot say that with the others in the race – the city council members will not get out for each other and they are not known past their cities.    John Moorlach as always fought the principled fight. Sincerely,

Fred

Fred Whitaker has terrible political instincts. He also as evidenced by the above email – sent 1 1/2 weeks ago to party faithful in order to clear obsticles to endorsing John Moorlach – has horrible judgement. These are not traits you want in a leader, much less the leader of a Political Party fighting for its’ life in California.

You’d think that the OCGOP in it’s entirety would have taken pause given that everything I have written about Bill Brough has rang true. You’d think that Whitaker would have been smarter than to saddle up a bus and roll over another victim of Bill Brough’s until the claim(s) were vetted. Now, Trish Todd is out in public, with multiple media stories complete with evidence and Fred Whitaker is once again exposed as a Tin Soldier.

If you care about the OCGOP, and especially the image and future of the GOP as it relates to reaching women, it is time for Fred Whitaker to be removed as chairman of the OCGOP if he does not resign himself.

P.S. I am not going away until every vitcim of sexual misconduct by those in positions of power get justice. That probably means I will never die. So be it. In the meantime, your intrepid blogger is dealing with the cover-ups, enablers, politically expedient and most importantly the abusers one at a time…

To be continued…
