Stan Sniff Update: Not Exactly the Kind of Media Coverage You Want, and Not Exactly the Smoke Signals a Sheriff Should Send His Constituents

A lot of people sent me the ABC7 News Article. It featured the usual:

Stan Sniff bald-faced lying. (He almost pulled it off without emotion) Something about being a tough disciplinarian and of course his allegiance to the ACLU.

The Media Outlet mentioned the YooooonYun. They even gave one of the Yooooooonyun gooons a soundbyte. (Ahem, it was a goodun, too… something about 90% of the rank and file Stanley…)

The best part in the opinion of your intrepid blogger (even better than the 165% disparity between Stanley’s 75% claim and the 90% reality the other way…) was the embedded screenshot from the ABC 7 Article.

(Why we are seeing ads for a Georgia Governor’s race is beyond me, but I digress.)

The campaign signs and TV ads popping up around Riverside County are just a few of the signs that the sheriff’s race is getting nasty.

Sheriff Stan Sniff, the incumbent for 11 years, is facing a tough challenge from union-backed candidate Lt. Chad Bianco.

“It’s not just the toughest, it’s the most toxic,” Sniff said.

The union representing sheriff’s deputies has contributed nearly $1 million to Bianco in an effort to unseat Sniff.

The sheriff says it’s because he’s been tough on deputy discipline and misbehavior and the department has been aggressive in rolling out body camera systems.

“We’ve terminated employees or meted out very harsh discipline, holding our employees accountable,” Sniff said. “And there’s this constant pushback because the union’s role is obviously to defend that.”

The Riverside Sheriff’s Association has endorsed Bianco and union vice president Ian Anderson says he thinks about 90 percent of the rank-and-file-members will vote for the challenger.

“The workers that are out doing the police work in the county of Riverside are all looking at me to make a difference in this organization,” Bianco said.

County Supervisor John Tavaglione, who was critical of Sniff and his department earlier this year, now supports the incumbent, saying union interests shouldn’t dominate the agency.

“When unions try to buy an election my experience tells me that’s going lead to problems, because the unions are going to be running the department, not the sheriff.”

His challenger can see Sniff is concerned. Bianco got more votes than Sniff in a primary field that also included two other challengers.

I know for a fact he’s getting worried,” Bianco said. “He should be. Seventy percent of the voting populace want a different direction, they want a different sheriff.

John Tavaglione just voted to raise Riverside County’s Taxes (Along with his fellow “Republican” Marion Ashley) as another parting gift besides selling out to the Corrupt Sheriff. (Just an FYI)

Then there is this Smoke Signal from Stan Sniff’s campaign – in addition to a bear hug of the ACLU and going full Gay Rights Social Justice Warrior – he is now the Marijuana Sheriff.

Why not? He takes money from convicts and extreme left-wing defense attorneys, why not pander to “Hot Box Smoke Shop”. I’d lay odds if asked, Sniff would indicate he did not inhale…

  1. Sniff is not tough on holding staff members accountable, he’s arbitrary and vindictive with the discipline he and his second floor minions issue out to deputies. The second floor morons have lost two terminations, in addition to disciplines of 40-hours, 24-hours and 16-hours. And the cost of public funds for these retaliatory and unjust punishments is over 6 figures. If the public wants to know the extend of the waste of taxpayer money in Sniff’s regime, this is part of the problem. They waste money on these types of retribution tactics just to show employees, “whose the boss.” Yet when it comes to real transgressions, like Aaron Kent, Steve Fredricks, or Kent Werges, they keep their jobs when they should have been fired. Same thing with Tyler Clark, he should never have asked Ron Heim for the questions on the promotion test, yet he did and nothing happened to him, but someone like Dennington doing his job and they fire him. Robert Rose and Kevin Smith playing ghetto gunfighter should have gotten time off, but were they held accountable, not even remotely. And at a minimum, Robert Epps should be on administrative leave for his illicit behavior. I could go on and on, but if Sniff and his perverse command staff were serious, they would have done something about these wayward staff members. There are high hopes in Mo Val that come January, Bianco sends Kurly toes, Tyler Clark and Fat Bodnar packing, and that he gives us some real leadership in Mo Val because we could really use it right about now.

  2. Sniffs a pile of shit. Back in 1997 2 deputies from the Banning Station were gunned down,he was their captain. Press Enterprise put the picture of one of the fallen deputies on the front page causing Riverside Sheriff Department to pretty much to ban that newspaper. But now it’s 2018 and Sniff is gloating about the press enterprise endorsement. Just like taking money from the defense attorney of a suspect that recently killed 2 Palm Springs officers. Sniff is rotten to the core and has to go.

  3. 2B40, don’t forget that when the deputies were killed Sheriffs Admin couldn’t get ahold of Sniff for five hours. Supposedly he was too drunk to answer the phone.

  4. Sniff is so full of crap about this body camera stuff he keeps harping about, as if it is something new. Shit Elsinore station deputies have been voluntarily using body cameras for about the past 8 years, many deputies at Moreno Valley have also been using them for many years, etc. He tries to use this body camera thing as if it’s some big battle he conquered, but the reality is Sniff violated the law (Meyers-Milias-Brown Act) as it applies to meet and confer prior to writing the actual policy. The deputies and the association never had an issue with wearing body cameras (as Sniff claims) they simply held that the law was in place for a reason and Sniff, as usual, violated that law. He is a LIAR and he must be REMOVED FROM OFFICE!!!

  5. I see that Sniff and Tavaglione have now kissed and made up, how sweet considering how much Tavaglione has hated Sniff for so many years. Tavaglione was 100% behind Dave Brown in the primary election and he wanted Sniff gone so bad, he used his connections to blow the lid off the huge cheating scandal that Sniff was trying so hard to hide from the public. Dave Brown has given Bianco his complete support and endorsement because he knows how important it is to get the corrupt Sniff out of office.

Where was all that very harsh discipline when you caught all those dept. members lying and cheating? Sniff’s own counsel recommended termination for all involved, but he didn’t terminate any of them and now the DA’s office has to change their protocol when it comes to prosecuting anyone where one of the liars and/or cheaters were involved in the case. Sniff didn’t mete out any harsh discipline because he himself is a LIAR and a CHEATER. Sniff must go!!! The time is now!!! Vote Chad Bianco for Sheriff

  6. The problems with the body cameras at Lake Elsinore is not with the deputies, it’s with Admin. and keeping them from using it for nefarious purposes. Like with Lt. Smith listening to Deputy conversations on the station cameras, we don’t need Admin. looking at the BWC footage and saying,”the deputy did a good job, but he was not wearing his name tag, so write him up.” That is the issue with the body cameras, and why we needed a written policy to keep opportunistic managers from becoming head hunters (like Lt. Tyler Clark). Sniff is a lair and will say anything, and screw over anyone if it will keep him in power.

  7. Kevin Vest helped his Academy buddy Aaron Kent cheat on the Lieutenants test, so Vest and Kent should join Jason Gore and the rest of the cheaters and be included on the DA’s Brady list as well since the Sheriff did not discipline either of them. Furthermore, the DA should also include Tyler Clark on the Brady list for violating the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics in obtaining the questions to the Captains exam. That is also considered a form of dishonesty, even if he was not testing, that still raises an integrity with him asking in the first place.

  8. It’s all smoke and mirror tactics, along with the smearing, that is Sniffcompoop’s last, sad attempt to hold onto his office. The body camera controversy…really?!? Why not blame the opposing side of being, oh, wait, Kurlmyballsinside has already opened that door.

    Sniffcompoop: you won’t win!

    BIANCO FOR SHERIFF – 2018!!

  9. The more I read, the more it makes sense to me that this Loren Clark did violate Department Policy, and is also guilty of unethical behavior in asking a peer for the test questions. As a young deputy, I would never think of asking a fellow deputy for the test questions because that would be considered cheating, and an integrity issue, which appears what we have with Lt. Clark, and he should be Brady material. I also remember that there was a PERS initiated at the Perris Station for a deputy giving test material to another deputy, so if they can be subject to an I.A., so should Lt. Clark, as a focus employee. Additionally I do agree that Aaron Kent and Kevin Vest should also be included on the Brady list, if the allegations are sustained that A/S Vest gave Aaron Kent confidential test material that was not available to the other candidates because that would be cheating. The DA is going to have his hands full come January. Ben Clark is spinning in his grave over how Stan Sniff and the imbeciles he calls his executive staff have ruined the department he loved so much.

  10. Good Morning!!!!
