The political world in Lincoln, CA is on its’ ear. As I was writing this post, I realized that I still have a few blogs about Spencer Short from years past. I never dreamed that Spencer would become the adult in the room in Lincoln, but here we are. Compared to everyone on the ballot in Lincoln, Spencer is the adult in Lincoln, CA with a superior resume to the others and actual experience. (Including not being featured in the local media for antics)
Damn dude, you aged well! (This is a current photo of Spencer Short)
Look at the photo of Spencer Short and compare it to the day-to-day episodes of Storage Wars that have been playing out in Lincoln, CA in the last year. In essence the entire campaign of Ben Brown and Holly Andreatta is, it’s all the County of Placer and Spencer Short’s Fault! Always looking for ways to help, your intrepid blogger has helped sum up the campaign of the two incumbents in one meme:
Of further irony is that Spencer Short at one time was part of a crew that recruited Richard Pearl (an incumbent in Lincoln) to run against Stan Nader. Now, of course Pearl is part of the current political superfund clean up site that is Lincoln.
Every last thing the incumbents criticize from 10-20 years ago – they made exponentially worse. They made it soooo bad that they have had to float a massive 1% sales tax on this ballot as well to try and shore up the Lincoln, CA budget they made worse. (Which is why they are blame-shifting all the time)
Speaking of Blame-Shifting, there was yet another altercation involving Holly Andreatta. Your intrepid blogger has eyewitness accounts of the Altercation that occurred between Holly Andreatta and the owner of the venue that was supposed to hold the candidate forum 10-19-2026 that Andreatta and Brown chickened out on.
Supervisor Shanti Landon wrote a letter to the editor that was lethal about the incident.
This week, following Lincoln’s State of the City address, Ms. Andreatta reportedly confronted a respected local small business owner in an incident witnessed by several people. According to those accounts, her behavior escalated beyond words to unwanted physical contact. Verbal intimidation is troubling enough, but putting your hands on another person crosses a line that no elected official should ever cross.
When Ben Brown decided to stand up and defend Holly (I can’t tell weather Holly invoked the lockbox on him or he did it of his own volition) he wrote the following:
The conversation concerned the recently proposed candidate forum. The business owner was upset about the situation and its impact on his business. From what I observed, Councilmember Andreatta attempted to reassure him and address his concerns. I did not witness aggression, threats, or anything resembling assault.
If you live your day to day life around Holly Andreatta, you lose perspective. I read Shanti Landon’s letter to the editor repeatedly, nowhere in there did she allege assault. Thank you Ben Brown for the clarity even as he was attempting to obfuscate the circumstances. (Aka lying)
Continuing with another excerpt from Landon’s Letter:
During my reelection campaign for county supervisor earlier this year, when Ms. Andreatta was my opponent, an encounter escalated to the point that I filed a police report after she verbally confronted me and threw papers in my face.
I share that not to reopen an election that is behind us, but because I understand how unsettling these encounters can be. And I recognize that small business owners and community members may be reluctant to speak publicly when they fear the consequences of doing so.
And the hypocrisy is hard to ignore. Ms. Andreatta led the charge to censure the late Councilmember Bill Lauritsen for conduct far less egregious than what she herself is now accused of. If she was so willing to hold a fellow councilmember accountable, she should be prepared to be held to that same standard.
Now we have a pattern of behavior, and Ben Brown involved himself in it. Holly for her part – responded to Shanti Landon’s letter to the editor with more bullying.
Holly has a desperate inner need to be right and win every argument. This is my opinion of her based on a demonstrated pattern. It is so bad that she lacks basic self-awareness and makes posts like this exposing her primary defects of character in a way even Ben Brown could understand. The problem is Brown is either as dishonest as Andreatta or is wrapped up in fear of her bullying – this is the only conclusion I can draw.
You see, the Lincoln Police are involved in this incident. If it was a peaceful argument that ended in a handshake you would not need a police report:
For the last year Holly Andreatta has been embroiled in Drama. Ben Brown has joined her. A reasonable person could only conclude that Ben Brown spun facts badly / obfuscated in his attempt to re-frame what happened at the State of the City event. As such, Brown disqualified himself from holding office.
Regardless of my differences with Spencer Short, I have never known him to lie or be a coward. Quite the opposite, which is why we clashed so much. When I compare Spencer to the two incumbents, for character alone, the choice is simple Spencer Short over Ben Brown.
Good luck with the rest of your campaign Spencer.
