I guess screwing over #CA10 Nominee Ted Howze, #CA45 Nominee Greg Raths while ignoring the corruption of #AD72 outgoing incumbent disaster Tyler Diep was not the way the consultants wanted California Trailblazers to be remembered.

Two Trailblazer all-stars: Brian Maienschein and Chad Mayes bolted the GOP.

Your intrepid blogger unloaded on the fraud that is California Trailblazers when Jessica Patterson was running for CAGOP Chair. What I thought would happen has. The world of consultants has shrunk. Undesirables have been purged. The control agents are now actively working to screw over any candidates that win primaries that they have no sway or financial interest in. (See also Kelly Seyarto AD-67 for example) Jessica Patterson herself is alleged to have strong-armed AD42 nominee Andrew Kotyuk in to not hiring his long time operative Nathan Miller, because Miller supported Travis Allen. Note: Greg Raths and Ted Howze also supported Travis Allen.

It is the opinion of this blogger that the nexus for CAGOP Chair Jessica Patterson’s actions is financial and retaliatory.

This gets us to the rebirth of California Trailblazers. It is clear that even though Jeff Randle and crew are executing the same 1990’s era consultant strategy of acting like they are ignoring dissenters – we can see decisions and actions that suggest otherwise. We were not supposed to notice that California Trailblazers PAC was shut down.

Since its’ 2011 inception, the California Trailblazers has been present and participated in the net loss of 13 GOP Seats in the State Legislature. 28-19 in the Assembly, 15-11 in the State Senate. How low can we go? Since its’ inception in 2011, the California Trailblazers has paid $2.3 Million in Salaries against a paltry $142,000 in candidate contributions. Jessica Patterson’s haul has been over $1.2 Million.

The PAC was shut down in late 2019 quietly.

Now – we are being reintroduced to the California Trailfailures fully integrated in to the CAGOP!

This email that I am posting a snippet of set an all-time record for texts and forwards. I got it so many times that I am still finding forwards of it in my inbox. People inside the CAGOP know what’s happening and they don’t like it.

Kevin McCarthy says we need to lose more elections in California! Yay! (At least he doesn’t waste his time helping anyone in California Raise Money)

Yup – Trailblazers is back as a face-saving division of the CAGOP and is being used to solicit funds for the CRP at the same time. Who said the 1990’s are dead? At least the tactics are still very much alive.

Thanks to everyone for forwarding the CAGOP’s emails to your intrepid blogger. You can remain anonymous. [email protected]

The time honored tradition of termed-out incumbents and other incumbents looking to extend their political lives is upon us!

SD29 – Senate Permanent Minority Leader Bob Huff is Termed out and has picked Ling-Ling Chang, currently in AD55 (in her first term) to replace him. Ling-Ling announced today. Ling-Ling should be a shoo-in and has impressed observers in the capitol suggesting that she will have little trouble raising the resources she needs.

AD55 – the seat vacated by Ling-Ling Chang is going to set off a free-for-all primary.

CA24 – Lois Capps retired, setting up a free-for-all in this dem-leaning seat. Abel Maldonado attempted to beat Capps in 2012 and was trounced. Chris Mitchum won a crowded primary and was ignored by the NRCC, and only lost by about 3 points. This is why Capps retired in 2016 presidential year – higher Dem Turnout makes it more likely that Republican Assemblymember Katcho Achidijian (who is termed out) will have a difficult time winning this seat. Katcho is one of the most liberal Republicans in the Assembly, but is well-liked and is a poster child for “fits the district”.

AD35 – this is the district Katcho is termed out of. True to form, as with the insane Presidential Free-for-all, Republicans disregard the clear the field strategy… including in a marginal district like AD35.

AD68 – Don Wagner is Termed Out. It looks like a mad-rush there as well. My intel shows me that the crazed Deborah Pauly, Tax Raising Stephen Choi, Hide and Seek Harry Sidhu and Conservative Activist Scott Voigts are the contestants there.

AD76 – Moderate Republican Incumbent Rocky Chavez is vetting a run for US Senate. Given that he is struggling to gain traction, he may stay put. I think Chavez would be a good fit for a statewide run, while at the same time I’d prefer a more conservative Republican in a Safe R seat like AD76. (see also fit the district)

Why the CAGOP is “Dead” Part 2- Charles Munger, Jeff Miller, Cal Trailblazers

California Trailblazers, Charles Munger, Dave Gilliard, Jeff Miller (Consultant)  Comments Off on Why the CAGOP is “Dead” Part 2- Charles Munger, Jeff Miller, Cal Trailblazers

Remember when the San Francisco Chronicle released an article alleging that the California Republican Party was deep in the hole?

We’ve seen media drills before in Placer County – David Stafford Gilliard ran one against the Placer GOP on behalf of clients that wanted to get even with us.

Now, a consultant Jeff Miller (who recently worked for Rick Perry) has been fingered as the man behind the curtain by several anonymous sources inside the California Republican Party. He ran a media drill against the entire California Republican Party.

Unlike Dave Gilliard who abandoned the California Republican Party once there was no money to be made on Prop 40 – Mr. Miller must see some profit in the operation he is running.

Jeff Miller is Charles Munger’s fundraiser.

Jeff Miller has been telling major donors to stop giving money to the California Republican Party. Rather, said donors have been asked to donate to the Cal Trailblazers.

The Cal Trailblazers is allegedly a group that recruits “Good Candidates” to run in marginal districts. In practice – they have been a squish machine for safe Republican Districts while supporting a few candidates in marginal districts that we (the GOP) have to keep to maintain 1/3 in the State Legislature.

Enter Charles Munger – $10,000 donated to Cal Trailblazers. Jeff Miller (reportedly) is on retainer with Munger and the ED of Cal Trailblazers is Jessica Patterson, long known by insiders to be on Charles Munger’s Payroll as well.

The Cal-Trailblazers spent most of its’ money paying Jessica Patterson and Aaron McClear – McClear was one of Arnold’s top guys in his administration.

When you take a first look – Cal Trailblazers does not appear to have a whole lot of money. Then pay attention to who they celebrate – Frank Bigelow, a contestant in a safe Republican seat. There is considerable debate as to whether Bigelow is a Liberal or a Moderate – but he did oppose Prop 26 (fees taking 2/3 to raise) and he did publicly support high-speed rail for example.

If you take a second look at the San Francisco Chronicle article – you will see Jeff Miller quoted in there basically advocating for people to donate money somewhere else other than the CA GOP.

If you take a third look at the California Trailblazers Website – look at who is on the homepage of it. The “Republican Leaders” that I lambasted in a previous post…

… and they send a letter asking for proxies to the upcoming California Republican Party convention?

So – with the amount of Republican territory shrinking, the latest Big Money guy, Charles Munger is buying his way in to everything.

The nexus here  resembles the fight over control of the California Republican Assembly, only on a larger scale.

Finally – if you have any doubts about the California Trailblazers take a look at their homepage closely (I added emphasis):

California Trailblazers are the next generation of Republican leaders in our state legislature. Individuals with fiscally conservative principles and ideas that will restore the California spirit, revive our economy, and lead to private sector job creation.

California Trailblazers is the only recruitment, training, and advisement program for California legislative candidates supported by Majority Whip Congressman Kevin McCarthy, Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff, and Assembly Republican Leader Connie Conway.

Let those two paragraphs sink in for a bit then we will continue this…
