Now we have information that the one of the outer gates of the Cois Byrd Detention Center is broken and has been for a period of time that may or may not total 5(!) Weeks.
This means someone that is arrested and booked in to Jail (weather or not they get cut loose early) gets brought over then a correctional deputy walks from the actual jail to the gate, and manually unlocks it. Then the CD slides the gate open, the cop takes the loser in, the CD slides the gate closed behind them. A second CD is required to be there to receive the subject. Then either that CD or another CD takes care of business. Then the original CD or another CD has to go let the Cop out.
Repeat this process as many times as needed daily. Your tax dollars at waste.
The area where the busted gate is, is known as the “Sally Port”.
It gets worse. Want to know why the gate has not been fixed?
#1 It is common knowledge that the Gate will not be fixed for ANOTHER 1-2 MONTHS.
#2 It is common knowledge that several INTERIOR DOORS in the jail are also malfunctioning!
#3 They are “Looking” for a new vendor to fix the broken doors!!! Where is the urgency!?
I guess Sniff and crew are too busy hunting down Chad Bianco supporters and abusing the worker’s comp system to pay attention to the dilapidated facilities and equipment!
If I was Cois Byrd, I’d be furious that my namesake facility was being managed like this!
If I was in local government in the area “served” by this Jail, I’d ask for Jerry Guitierrez’ resignation now.
J.J. is an epic failure and should resign, but his ego won’t allow him to admit to his lack of leadership, and negligence in matters of management. Jerry is nothing more than a political appointee with a degree not worth the paper it’s printed on. He never did anything in his career, except get the “hook up” from the female staff he worked with, which is his only claim to fame, but he was single at the time he committed his transgressions, although he is quick to chastise subordinates for the same things he did. I just wonder if he acts the same way on the Rialto Planning Commission, and what he tells his peers on the Planning Commission, which I bet consists of a lot of embellishments.
What is wrong with the CURRENT vendor? Looking for a new vendor seems to be the same excuse JG always use. Just call a company and fix it.
Its like RPDC the elevators keeping breaking down and wont be fixed for weeks because parts need to be ordered from like Germany that takes weeks.
Also JG spent a lot of money on a consulting firm and they destroyed the managing of the corrections burueau and safety of staff and inmates. That report was buried and they refused to release it.
