I spoke to Curtis Grima about the Sutter County Cent Com issue. He indicated that most of the districts did not make it to the ballot. His district is on the ballot and he was clear with me that his nexus for running was in order to try to lead the Sutter GOP out of its’ dysfunction and in to more effective leadership.
I trust Mr. Grima’s judgement and am hoping to see him elected to the Central Committee there.
I have been alerted that Monterey, Santa Cruz, Riverside, San Bernardino and Orange County are also receiving mail. I have as of yet been able to confirm mail in San Diego County.
Here is the moral of this story – those being supported by this effort were not recruited by the crew spending all this money. At least not in most places in the state.
On one hand, the Tea Party brought this on themselves – they used the same sort of deceitful tactics in some central committees to take them over, and when they took over cent coms or parts of cent coms, most were ineffective agents of chaos. It is what it is.
On the other hand, however, when one person or a small group of people respond by spending a ton of money on lists of people for party leadership – it creates an appearance that fits the narrative that led to Donald Trump’s nomination.
I’ve been alerted that in the Bay Area, that several long-time party loyalists have been left out of the mass mailings and purchased slate mail cards. This further confuses the effort to understand what is going on and why.
I will be reaching out to those that funded and engaged this effort, just like I spoke to Mr. Grima about Sutter County.
There has to be a reason why this is going on – and I am not convinced that it is ideological either. I think there are a variety of reasons.
