Most people in CAGOP politics know George Yang. Courtesy of Peter Kuo, many of the same people heard about the arrest of George Yang. Peter and George are both Chinese-born and have been closely associated in California Republican Politics for years.
Your intrepid blogger held off on writing about this until George had his first court appearance post-arrest. That was on 9-20-2023.
George Yang is innocent until proven guilty. Perhaps Kuo needed to be reminded of that a few times when he was calling people. I will go on the record stating that I sincerely HOPE George Yang is innocent.
First off, Alameda is a George Soros prosecutor county, so getting held without Bail is something else. From some simple research on Google, PC220(B) is one of a few dozen “Major” Felonies that even the most George Gascon – Gavin Newsom democrats have not sought to normalize (like retail theft under $950).
Please note that Chengzhi “George” Yang lives in San Mateo County. This is a key fact to remember as you read on.
Several things popped out at me as I took in accounts of the court appearance:
- There were several references to George Yang being a “Legal Resident” as of 2005. (See also “Green Card”)
- There were no references that Yang is now a citizen of the US.
- The specificity of the evidence against Yang suggesting he was the assailant in the home invasion and assault is compelling.
- The police staked out George Yang’s residence before arresting him.
- The DA’s office believes he is a substantial flight risk (back to China).
- The restrictions placed on Yang are onerous. He can not discuss his own case with anyone other than his wife and attorney, there is a 5-way Search warrant giving police access to all of his accounts, devices and such. He is on house arrest. He has to wear an ankle monitor. He had to surrender his passport to his attorney who is holding it in trust. All this and his bail was set at $100,000, meaning he had to pay something like $10,000 to bail bond out of jail in to house arrest!
It is my opinion that George Yang is going to have a difficult time proving his innocence given that his prints and DNA are on items associated with the crime he is accused of. (I am not an attorney, judge, prosecutor – so factor that in to my opinion)
Yang is currently the Chairman of the Republican Conservative Coalition. This is the group that Steve Frank and others started in an attempt to organize the opposition to the McCarthy / Trump -Controlled California Republican Party.
As such, Yang has claimed his prosecution is political retaliation. How would the Alameda DA know he was involved in any efforts to recall her? I found a local media story that was basically a shill for said DA There is also a website that like the TV story does not mention Yang and Yang can’t sign the paperwork as he does not live in Alameda County. In addition, the recall has not filed a form 460 report of contributions yet. The only filing is linked here. One account from Yang is that the DA of Alameda County is going after him because he seeded the recall with $10k. I can’t prove any connection of Yang to the recall and there are no donations listed. Did Yang lie about this too?
FYI – the recall effort looks like a joke. I am not sure the Alameda DA cares about it at all.
Yang’s arrest could not have come at a worse time. The opposition is attempting to forestall a complete evisceration of the CAGOP Platform by the Trump/McCarthy leadership of the CAGOP. Yang was to have been one of the leaders in the effort.
There is a lesson here for everyone reading this post. When you are looking to people for leadership it is time to do thorough research and actually heed the information you gather. This is not like allowing Donald Trump to be who he is and deliberately ignoring his faults. Only someone larger than life like Trump can get away with the things he has said and done and still retain the influence he has and shame on us for giving him a pass. Regardless of Donald Trump’s special treatment, this is something no sane person could grant George Yang. Anyone doing intellectually honest research would reject them both.
When I was first notified of Yang’s arrest, I was called by several people – it struck me how little we know about George Yang. Where in China was he born? I never knew his Birthdate until seeing this screenshot. What do we know about Yang’s work history? In court, his attorney said he was basically being supported by his wife and that he does civic volunteer work. Where did Yang meet his wife? Is he a person of faith? Why does he go to China so often? There are so many basic facts we do not know about Mr. Yang. Where did the $10K (or other amount) for the Bail Bond (or to start the recall of the Alameda DA) come from?
I learned more about George Yang by accounts of the court appearance than I knew about him dating back to his first run for office in 2012.
The opposition to the Trump-McCarthy controlled CAGOP needs to do a much better job vetting potential leaders. There is no margin for error. Unfortunately when we need the RCC the most against the determined efforts of the Oligarchy of Controlled Failure (that changed the CAGOP Rules to help Trump, and that are now shredding the party platform), the RCC’s Chair got arrested for a major felony.

In a breakdown of that paragraph, let me try this:

Um, …oooooookay. So, which of these so called, ‘in the know’ folks, saw this one coming? I’m politically naive, I admit it. But this??? Who are the ‘others?’
Granted, innocent until proven guilty, um….this? The info is kind of, missing. Like, WHO did this guy burglarize much less assault? Chinese national? IS HE A US citizen or not?
Who found that out BEFORE voting him into the chairmanship of the CCC? SMH.
Wow. What else are we going to find? I can’t wait to see how this turns out, tho.
GAWD, it’s going to be a looooooong 8 month wait. UGH!
Insinuating that George Yang is not a citizen was a cheap shot. He has been a registered voter in San Mateo County since 2010, maybe earlier. He ran for public office several times. If he was not a citizen, opposition research would have exposed him.
I doubt the DA will add a perjury charge for his voter registration.
Blogger’s Note: Do you have a date he was naturalized? I heard it was 2009, but it is all hearsay. It was quite odd they never talked about him being naturalized in the court hearing and what I wrote is actually a statement of fact. Thanks for reading.
Well, his attorney said, that “he is a resident alien.” Not, “he was,” or anything about him being naturalized. I listened live. So it’s a question worth asking. Are you seriously contending that Dems would spend money on opposition research on someone who will never win? LOL
Citizen, not a citizen. which is it?
When asked, this pops up:
“According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), there are three types of resident aliens:
1)Permanent resident: This is someone who has been given the lawful and legal right by the government to live in the United States.
2)Conditional resident: This person receives a two-year green card, which is usually given to people who have applied for residency based on marriage or because they are entrepreneurs. A person must apply to have the conditions removed 90 days before the green card expires, or else the permanent resident status will be removed.
3)Returning resident: This is any lawful permanent resident who has been outside the U.S. and is returning to the country. This person must apply for re-admission if they have been outside the U.S. for more than 180 days.
Being that some forms don’t ask the Citizenship question, where does this place Mr Yang? Definitely something that should be address. Hopefully, he’s naturalized. If not, welllllllll………so much for the Chairperson of the CCC group, and those who formed it.
