Well, well, well. The Orange County Register Editorial Board lit up the Pete Hardin campaign and the leftist nazi blogger loser that had been planting false stories in the local media.
Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer’s opponent in the June primary, Pete Hardin, recently circulated a video that showed Spitzer “blurting out racial slurs directed at the Black and Muslim community” and demanded that he resign his position.
We understand how the campaign season can cloud candidates’ thinking, but aspiring and current district attorneys should never deliberately misrepresent the motives of their target.
The edited video does show Spitzer using the N-word and other epithets during a speech three years ago to the Iranian American Bar Association. He was quoting the things racist criminals had said in a discussion of hate crimes in the county. He probably shouldn’t have said those words in full, but Spitzer was reassuring the group that he would never be soft on hate crimes and took such crimes seriously. Anyone who viewed the speech in full would be well aware of that, including those who purposely clipped out his usage of the terms in question from the lengthy speech in which he clearly denounced hate.
Context matters.
Well no kidding. Why did the OC Register run with the planted lie from the Huff Post Blogger?
We’ve often criticized Spitzer, but we’ve never seen a hint of racism in his long career. His critics should focus on legitimate questions about his judgment, his policies and his record. Their willingness to circulate a misleading video raises questions about their judgment, too.
There is a reason why Pete Hardon Hardin is lying. This is what you have to do when you are a disaster. Now, will the OC Register step up to the plate on Hardon’s real issues?
