Dear Steven Greenhut: Put the Bong Down and Look at the Facts. Moorlach’s Staff Covered Up a Rape and He Smeared the Victim

by | Feb 8, 2021 | 2021 Elections, John Moorlach | 0 comments

Steven Greenhut is some sort of political fixture in Orange County. In a self-righteous huff, he left the GOP years ago and criticizes the GOP far more than he does the dems. He is revered by pot farmers all over Southern California. However, he now finds himself carrying the water for Fred Whitaker and the Badly Wounded John Moorlach.

Let’s help jog Greenhut’s Memory using the Orange County Register:

Todd’s letter also calls out Tim Clark, who was Moorlach’s chief of staff — and Todd’s direct supervisor — in 2015, when she says the rape took place.

Todd told Clark about the rape soon after it allegedly happened. She says Clark then told her not to tell anyone else, and didn’t offer her any assistance. Clark denies that he asked Todd to keep quiet, insisting that she asked him to stay silent. He said he still sought advice from Senate authorities and referred Todd to a prominent victims rights attorney — claims Todd denies. That attorney hasn’t responded to requests for comment.

Now Steven, when you are between your next eighth, understand that Tim Clark has also run every campaign Moorlach has had in the last 20 years. And, he is still associated with him. Now that is a connection even better than your favorite dispensary.

In case it still isn’t clear:

State records show that Clark worked as a consultant on Brough’s 2014 campaign for Assembly, months before Todd told him about the rape. In 2014, Brough paid Clark’s consulting firm $14,141. Two years later — months after Todd told Clark about the alleged rape — Brough paid Clark’s firm an additional $42,682.

Now – let’s talk about Mr. Moorlach’s part:

In a Dec. 15 meeting with members of the Orange County Register’s editorial board, with a reporter also present, Moorlach said he believed Clark’s version of events. He called Todd a “disgruntled” employee. He said she was “assertive” and “strong willed” and not his “best hire.” When pressed for details of what he meant, Moorlach said he wasn’t allowed to comment further on personnel matters, but directed the Register to Todd’s Senate employment file for alleged evidence of his complaints.

Now Mr. Greenhut – take a look at the above and ask yourself why an innocent man (as you claim Moorlach is) would smear a rape victim? Then look at the above Senate commendation that was sent to her after she quit. And if that was unclear through the political smoke – have a look at this glowing letter requesting a pay raise for the victim: (Note that Flowers is her maiden name and Lenkiewicz is her previous married name)

So let me spell it out for you Mr. Greenhut.

You hate the GOP and have said so repeatedly, but you’ve now aligned yourself with a bunch of old white Republicans that have smeared a rape victim.

John Moorlach’s Chief of Staff Tim Clark – who was paid by Brough in 2014 for his assembly campaign, was John Moorlach’s Chief of Staff in 7-2015 when Bill Brough raped Trish Todd. He told her not to report it.

John Moorlach was so disconnected from his staff that they never felt empowered to talk directly to him.

Months after Bill Brough raped Trish Todd, Tim Clark was paid the final $42,000 of the 2014 campaign invoices by Bill Brough. If you think for a second this was not a factor in Clark’s decision to cover up the rape you are a fool.

Clark has worked for John Moorlach on several campaigns since and is working on his current campaign. Repeat this as many times as necessary. I know it is hard, because to understand this fact would mean you’d have to admit a mistake which as a fate worse than death.

Greenhut also wondered why Trish Todd’s personnel file mattered. It is because your hero John Moorlach smeared her as a bad hire. Please re-read this sentence, too, as painful as it is for your ego.

Then there is this from Greenhut’s new found buddy Fred Whitaker:

I’m reaching out to you to ask a personal favor, because we are at a critical point.  The absolutely false accusation against Sen. Moorlach is threatening the ability of the party to unite behind one candidate for this special election, where only one more vote wins. The Democrats have only one candidate – Katrina Foley.   We have 4 candidates, and now even Diane Dixon says she wants to run because of the allegations against Moorlach.  That would be 5 Republicans (three City Council members from Newport and one from Huntington Beach and Sen. Moorlach).   I have commitments from two of our candidates they will withdraw for Moorlach, but not the others.   Once we show courage, others will follow.

I believe that if we consolidate behind Sen. Moorlach, we will have the most well-known candidate as the only candidate. We cannot say that with the others in the race – the city council members will not get out for each other and they are not known past their cities.    John Moorlach as always fought the principled fight. We need to fight for him.

I personally, think the blog was sent out just to sow disarray in the party by those that want to see us divided, since they know we can’t unite behind one of the others.  I know you know how it feels to be wrongly accused and have libel sent out against you.   Please help John fight this. Would you please “reply” that we can count your email as support for Sen Moorlach’s endorsement?   I appreciate the consideration.

Greenhut has saddled up on an incident in Trish Todd’s personnel file as some sort of justification for his smearing of Trish Todd. I guess Greenhut is not the advocate he says he is because within weeks of the incident he uses to cover his bruised ego, the above proclamation was issued. How could a bad employee have gotten such a glowing recommendation on her last day of work? Greenhut is forced to ingore this or else he’d have had to be intellectually honest about John Moorlach’s moral failing.

Orange County Politics appears to be hopelessly infected and may well be beyond repair as the Orange County Register and everyone’s favorite libertarian Steven Greenhut are now spiraling down the political toilet. I really hope Moorlach is worth it because he does not return the loyalty and has no coattails.
