Open Letter to Kevin Jeffries – Abandon Stan Sniff and Endorse Chad Bianco

Kevin – I am not sure if you remember when we first met at a CAGOP Convention many years ago. I think it was about 2002, Craig D was working for you at the time.

We had a few chats about the direction of the GOP and the CAGOP in general. I always remembered you as a solid conservative vote in the Assembly and a principled conservative. I remember the agreements we had in those private exchanges.

I wanted to appeal to you from one Conservative to another. Chad Bianco is your guy. Stan Sniff is yesterday’s news. Let me step away from the Hyperbole of campaign rhetoric and lay out some facts to explain why I think you and other Conservative Leaders Should join Team Bianco.

I have real skin in this game, my wife has been attacked by people on behalf of Stan Sniff and I’ve had private investigators come after background info on me because I’ve had the temerity to stand up publicly and take on the Sheriff. This should give you pause.

If I could share the emails, text messages, and phone calls I’ve gotten from grateful Sheriff’s Office Employees that I am standing up for them, I would. At least 80% of the department are desperate for change and have been living under a regime where any dissent is crushed. Because of Right On Daily, many people of the rank and file employees feel like they have a voice finally. Most of the memes and photos that I post on this blog were not made or obtained by me – they were made and sent to me by various deputies!

You’d draw the same conclusion I did if you saw what I saw on my phone and email box: This blog has given dozens, if not hundreds of RSO Employees who were out of favor cover because the misdeeds of Sniff and his management team are being laid out.

Kevin – if you want, we can set aside the personal angle if you like. We can set aside that the employees of the department (none of whom I have ever met in person) feel a personal connection to me, and we can set aside what was done to my wife and dismiss it as the heat of a campaign.

Regardless, Kevin please ask yourself one question… why are the rank-and-file in revolt against their boss? Why has this blog been able to get enough content for 250 posts and counting related to Stan Sniff and his management team?

Looking through a conservative lens from a political and leadership perspective there are a litany of factual (non-feeling / relational) things that are the Sniff Record:

Stan Sniff has a horrendous record on CCW Issuance and a closer look shows that donors are far more likely than non donors to get one, and until recently, people had to wait years to even get their interview. Chad Bianco has said, “Shall Issue” will be his policy. Sniff’s 11 year record is clearly the opposite. He has been castigated by several gun groups over this.

Stan Sniff has sided with the ACLU on key matters of personnel and day-to-day law enforcement. Would a Conservative do this?

Stan Sniff made a very public and calculated decision in 2013 to discontinue cooperating with ICE. This is a position contrary to Conservative Values of Law and Order.

Under Stan Sniff’s watch crime has escalated under all categories. This is undeniable and it is at a rate that exceeds population growth or the overall growth of crime statewide.

Stan Sniff has fought with you and the other supervisors for years, and is suddenly “happy as a clam” with basically the same budget that he said would lead to the new jail being empty? Does a Conservative threaten to leave the jail empty when he does not get his own way on a budget? Is this the right way to govern?

Is $2 Million really going to fix the average response time of 80 minutes in rural areas? Why hasn’t there been a focus on service times in Rural Areas? Wouldn’t a Conservative solve the problems within their means?

On Stan Sniff’s watch equipment has deteriorated. You’ve seen the photos of vehicles in disrepair, read stories about malfunctioning radios, antiquated computers and cellphones, and an array of outdated equipment, including expired bomb suits. Conservatives fix problems, they don’t allow them to get worse?

Can you help with the restrictive and ghastly overpriced maintenance contracts? Has Sniff said anything about them or their effect on the department? If not, why not?

Are you aware of the inexperienced and unqualified people in various management positions throughout the department? Conservatives recruit the best and brightest they can.

Under Sniff’s watch there was never a priority on jail space, as a result, Riverside County has one of the worst “Fed-Kick” as in early release of felons problems in the State (if not the country). Would a Conservative allow this?

Kevin – you’ve had a front row seat to watch Sheriff Sniff channel Obama, blaming you and the other supervisors for years for all of his problems. The bottom line is that Stan Sniff has failed to lead and the consequences are borne out all over the department. When he is not blaming you and the board, he is blaming a laundry list of other things and people for his maladies.

Now, the voters have held Stan Sniff accountable. Chad Bianco, virtually unknown before this campaign started, beat the Incumbent Sheriff in the Primary by a significant margin. It is clear that the Sheriff is extremely vulnerable in the fall.

Chad Bianco is a full portfolio Law and Order Conservative. He is a solid human being “Off the Field”, too. As Conservatives, he is the prototypical candidate we look for. He has appeal to non-Republican voters because of his credentials and presentation. There is more than enough to make a compelling case to make the jump.

Look close, Kevin, I normally have nothing to do with any Union, ever. Usually union endorsements are a gigantic read flag, even cops unions.

In this case, the Unions have picked the most Conservative candidate of the lot. I honestly never gave much consideration to who was supporting Chad, because Chad Bianco met the criteria for an effective replacement for the current failed Sheriff. This is why the anti-union argument rings hollow in this case and why it did not work for the Sheriff.

On every objective measure, Stan Sniff has failed as a leader. Some of the token measures recently taken prove that some of these problems could have been addressed at any time the Sheriff deemed them important. This is yet another measuring stick of failure and reactionary leadership.

Lastly, the 3rd place finisher, Retired Hemet Police Chief Dave Brown (who gained 19.5% of the vote) gave an emphatic endorsement of Chad Bianco. This is unusual after a bruising primary, making this a clear indicator that Chad Bianco is a substantial and compelling man.

Stan Sniff has had 11 years. He has failed. He is not a Conservative or a Republican as borne out by his deeds. It is time to jump ship and join the future of law enforcement in Riverside County, Chad Bianco.

Thanks for reading this blog Kevin, and thanks for your years of Conservative Leadership.

  1. Mr. Jeffries, according to the registrar of voters, Chad Bianco had more votes than any of the other candidates in each of the areas you represent. That means that your district’s constituents overwhelmingly voted for Chad Bianco over all other candidates. Do you listen to your constituents? They are telling you very loudly and clearly who they want you to support. It’s hard to imagine you would endorse anyone other the man your constituents voted for. Please do the right thing and endorse Chad Bianco. Don’t fall for Sniff’s “strategy” of raping the county areas of deputies (like he did more than a year ago) so that he could get more money out of you down the road. Please listen to those of us who voted you into your office and properly represent us.

  2. Bottom line, deputies lives have been put at risk in the areas you represent Supervisor Jeffries. Your constituents lives have been put at risk in the areas you represent Supervisor Jeffries. Most voters are fully aware of the games the sheriff has played with lives in your areas and have voted against him and for Chad Bianco. I hope you don’t support that.
There really is nothing more to say, we await your endorsement.

  3. When we met Mr. Jeffries, you appeared to be a man that cared about people, and willing to do the right thing. Well now is your chance to do the right thing and support Chad Bianco to be the next Sheriff of Riverside County. Stan and his band of highwayman have done nothing but run this County Department into the ground, with some of the brightest employees either jumping ship for another agency, or retiring earlier than expected to go work somewhere else. So do the right thing, before Stan and his minions on the second floor end up dragging you (and the other supervisors) down the rabbit hole, and into a Grand Jury inquiry.

  4. Supv. Jeffries, if you choose not to follow the direction your constituents want you to follow, then it will be very clear that you are in this for yourself just like Stan Sniff is. If that is the type of supervisor you choose to be then your constituents will have no choice but to vote you out of office. You are in that seat to represent your constituents and the day you start making selfish decisions is the day you must go. The ball is in your court, please do the right thing.

  5. I always said that deputies were put at risk Sniff’s policies.

I recieved a lot of retaliation over it. And Im just a citizen.

  6. Mr. Jefferies, the men and women I have led for over 26 years in the Sheriff’s Office, as a ranking official, are in support of Chad Bianco to be our next Sheriff.

It has been a matter of ethics, and a strong soul searching effort, among those of us who voted no confidence in Stan Sniff. His mantra and organizational guidance has brought the front-line staff to the base depression of devoid leadership.

We are unable to endure Stan Sniff’s administration any longer. We are the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office, and we are disenfranchised, organized, and serious. Please consider your options and then decide if our cause for the very soul of this organization has your support. We are the Sheriff’s Office! We are the men and women of this organization and represent those who came before us,.. reaching back to 1893.

  7. Which candidate for sheriff will not tolerate lying-while-serving and corruption? The deputies seem to feel quite secure that no one will notice their misdeeds. Is this because Sheriff Sniff is not paying attention to deputy sheriff misconduct? And what about the District Attorney? Does the office actually review the deputies’ work? We always hear that cops hate dirty cops more than anyone. Let’s see some proof of that before begging for more funding.
