Your intrepid blogger has received a letter that was sent to the members of the LEMU. As you recall from our glossary of terms, LEMU is the Sgt’s, LT’s and Captains. These are the mid-level managers and station managers. Most of my targets have been people in this group.
Everyone – Welcome Sgt Tim Brause to Right on Daily! Mr. Brause is alleged to have stuffed an endorsement of Chad Bianco by the LEMU Unit. Several Sgt’s and LT’s support Chad Bianco, including several that I have detonated on this blog.
Ironically, Brause also gets publicy hammered by none other than Andrew Shouse, a former Captain out in the desert.
Allow me to quote Mr. Brause’s “letter” to the membership of LEMU, as it resembles something I can by from the organic gardening store:
The majority of LEMU’s members chose to stay out of the politics involved in endorsing a candidate. The contest for the office of Sheriff was not decided on June 5th and remains hotly contested. While most LEMU members choose to remain private regarding their political allegiances, some have chosen to exercise their 1st Amendment rights in support of their chosen candidate.
Your LEMU Board has recently received letters of concern regarding some of the posts and comments found on various forms of social media, mainstream and or pseudo news forums. While we recognize the sanctity of freedom of speech, protected by the 1st Amendment, we also hope that judgement and ethics play a guiding role should any LEMU member chose to make public comments directed at any Department member, Department policy, goal, objective or procedure.
Dear Mr. Brause – I would be the only one that lit up the LEMU for4 not announcing the endorsement of Chad Bianco before the Sniffmeister got hammered on June 5th.
It was told to me that the LEMU did not take a position when Stan Sniff was originally appointed sheriff in 2007, suggesting a history of political cowardice by that group. If you think it through, it makes sense. When you make Sgt. you’re on a career path to someday run a team or run a station. Those are 200,000 – 250,000 a year jobs and come with a lot of public events where you get your ego stroked. (See also my expose’s on several captains for examples)
So Sgt. Brause, go on the record and tell us all where you are on the Lt’s list and then tell us all with a straight face that had no bearing on your decision to stuff the endorsement.
Secondly, why not post the “letters of concern”? It appears that I have more courage signing my name to calling you out than the alleged authors of nebulous “letters of concern”.
Third, no one in this department recognizes the sanctity of the First Amendment. If they did, 2/3 of the stuff I have written about would have never happened (see also retaliation, cronyism. selective discipline, subjective promotions, etc.) The fact that this is mentioned appears to be a threat by Mr. Brause towards the members of the LEMU, further adding credence to my original theory back in February when I wrote about the LEMU endorsement of Bianco being stuffed by an ambitious member seeking promotion.
Fourth – Brause’s letter details how 1/3 of the questionnaires were returned. And then says a Majority of respondents is needed for an endorsement. This is a clever way of saying since half the ballots weren’t turned in, the votes on the 1/3 received don’t make the threshold. In Robert’s Rules if you have a quorum, you can endorse. In most organizations that is 20-25% of the body. Did Sgt. Brause violate Robert’s Rules in order to prevent an endorsement of Chad Bianco?
The rest of the letter is the horse feed boiler plate about the mission and code of ethics of the LEMU (which I’ve written repeatedly about its’ members making a mockery of).
I wrote it before and I will write it again, this smells. I know the allegiance of the members of the department. If there was an honest vote of the RSO, Sniff loses 80-20.
Check out the attached threads. People are seeing through Mr. Brause’s smokescreen. Perhaps the members of his bargaining unit will vote him out.
In this case former Captain Shouse is dead on – Brause, time to show the letters or forever be branded for the fraud you appear to have perpetrated on your membership, and be branded for lying, bullying and exhibiting poor leadership. The LEMU deserves the truth.
