Stan Sniff is suddenly “Happy as a Clam” with his budget. The budget he is happy with is largely the same budget that he predicted would lead to the Jail being unstaffed.
Stan Sniff is apparently “Happy as a Clam” to be paying out $200,000 – $400,000 in extra money every time a senior member of his staff retire. Given that the turnover in Stan Sniff’s senior management has been horrendous, the Retirement Bomb cost has to be horrendous.
Similar to the disastrous County Maintenance Contracts that are costing the Sheriff’s Office Millions for slipshod work, the Retirement Bomb is costing Millions more. Yet, you never hear about this from the Sheriff. He spends his waking hours blaming the Supervisors for his maladies instead of attempting to solve the problem.
Take a look at the below screenshots of 3 recently retired Second Floor Infestors – we threw in Lt. Tim Elwell for a bonus as it appears people down to the rank of Lieutannant can store up sick and vacation hours to create a nice lump-sum payout at retirement day.
As a note of comparison – in the real world, employees are told they have a cap on the hours they can accrue. It is typically around 18 months worth of vacation and 18 months of sick time.
You will see that former Assistant Sheriff Raymond Gregory hammered the taxpayers for over 400,000 worth of “Other Pay” as in stored up vacation and sick time when he retired. The others listed here hammered us for $201K-267K a piece beyond their six figure salaries.
Where is the Sheriff? Why he’s “Happy as a Clam”. #EPICFAIL

This is the cause of all the corruption from the second floor. These people retire damn near millionaires so you think they’re not going to do Suspect Sniff’s dirty deeds. I am a victim of this administration and know exactly what I’m saying. Until the “At will” status is eliminated corruption will always be front and center Money corrupts it is the root of all evil. I still can’t believe there hasn’t been a class action civil suit initiated. The violations of this administration are so rampant you have to believe they do not fear any retribution The corruption in this department makes the whole county look evil because everyone knows it’s happening and they turn a blind eye. I was forced to retire after calling Sniff corrupt to my captain I called the DA’s office corruption detail and was told by an investigator that they didn’t handle such things. What Sniff has done makes every agency look corrupt.
The problem is with the village idiots Sniff promotes to the higher levels because instead of elevating good people, he promotes “Yes men” that are only interested how much they can stuff in their pockets. He promotes these tools with over-inflated egos who were promoted far beyond their talents and intelligence, and are intimidated by others with the attributes that exhibit leadership. And it’s these same buffoons that blatantly and intentionally sabotage the careers of these competent staff members in their deluded state in believing they are,”The man” when they are nothing more that a political appointees who only embarrass themselves by displaying their level of ignorance when they speak, or make decisions that only causes further humiliation for the Department. But in true Stan Sniff fashion, the leaders of this organization “point the finger at someone else.” Look at the leaders around you and say to yourself, “Is this the guy/gal I would follow into battle?” Yes there are a few that I would follow into the gates of hell, but those true leaders are far outweighed by the self-absorbed clowns that call themselves leaders in RSO who are only looking to enrich themselves.
