San Joaquin GOP Update: Despite Rigging the Process, They Could Not Endorse the Grimace Pick for #CA09

Meet Scott Winn.

We all knew that the political bosses in San Joaquin County would extract their price. While they successfully stopped a party endorsement of Tom Patti for #CA09 (Patti is clearly the strongest candidate out there), they could not get Jonathan Madison to 2/3.

Trick one – the time-honored, “throw members off drill” was the first thing on the menu. The vote deadlocked 12-12, then Tony Amador broke the tie in favor of expelling two members. I am not sure what the grounds were, but I was told that Chair Dwight Williams wanted to wait on making all of these moves until the next meeting. Dwight rightly called the activities divisive.

Grimace was hearing none of it.

There was also a parliamentarian who was clearly biased towards the Grimace machine in San Joaquin County. (another time-honored trick of the oligarchy of controlled failure) The Parliamentarian reliably ruled in favor of the consultants.

At the end of the day, James Shoemaker, Jonathan Madison, and Tom Patti were unable to reach 2/3.

— and yet another story for Right on Daily about the machinations of the consultant class.
