In a previous post we talked about Chad Willardson who was elected City Treasurer in 2016. Shortly thereafter, he began a process of remaking the senior leadership of the City of Corona. We have been and will continue talking about that and the disastrous consequences to Corona.

The subject of Today’s post are some obvious questions, who is this guy, really? How does he support his lifestyle? And is he ever in Corona anymore?

I wish Chad and his crew in management of the City of Corona would take their own advice

When you watch City of Corona meetings you see nothing but excuses and hostility for people asking questions. This is a theme that has repeated for the last several years be it the 6th St disaster where they spent $35 Million to make traffic worse, the ever changing “The Circle”, the $100M Park monstrosity, the McKinley St Disaster, the Pension Bomb, the Bond Bomb, you name it.

But, every time I go back to Willardson, stuff does not add up. How in the heck is he affording this lifestyle? He posts pictures of himself in exotic, or at least well-known and expensive travel destinations at all sorts of different times.

He is reputed to “own” everything in this post. I have also been told and I am sure records will confirm that he has something like 4-6 properties in his name in various places in the world. He tools around Corona in a Rolls Royce with a driver. (See also his comments about having a full time pilot on his payroll for his Jet)

The 300K-ish a year package he gets from Corona, ain’t gonna get close to making the payments on this stuff. Doing Tony Robbins seminars with his headset won’t generate enough income. Managing $1.4 Billion in assets (if that number is real) at 1.25% commission (assuming he gets it all) would net $17,500,000 a year in commission. It costs a couple million a year to maintain the Jet by itself. Does he have employees in his management firm?

But the next question beyond the numbers not adding up is that Willardson is reputed to never be in Corona anymore. Given that his Chauffer-Driven Rolls Royce is a pretty easy spot, it is not hard to know. Beyond if he is even in the office so to speak, if he is travelling the world with his headset, is he using Tony Robins and whatever else to get new investment clients? It just looks like he is telling other people how to live while letting his minions in Corona bankrupt the city.

As I said in a previous post, bragging about one’s wealth whilst sitting in elected office is not a good look at all and shows a complete lack of self-awareness. Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of this behavior in the “Self-Help” world.

Add in this fact, before gaining election as City Treasurer, Willardson lived in a pretty standard tract type of home, and now you are seeing this post election. People reading should start asking questions themselves.

If indeed Chad Willardson gained success legitimately, he needs to get himself back to Corona and start practicing what he is telling others to do. Manage Money better, get out of debt, stop overpaying for services and the like. He is the Treasurer of the City of Corona, it’s his job.
