CAGOP Update: With Final Delegate List to Come out Anytime Now, Here’s What is Happening

Here is the bottom line. Jessica Patterson is getting re-elected.

With Rob Bernosky, Thomas Cole and Mike Cargile running against Patterson, the odds increased dramatically. Even if Patterson was vulnerable, this refusal of the Conservatives to unify basically dooms any effort against her.

My advice to the opponents, drop out now. It is time to make peace and figure out how to work with the existing leadership.

Your intrepid blogger had gone on a rant about the behavior of the conservative opposition to the current CAGOP Leadership back 6 weeks ago. Not only was the rant ignored, but the behavior has gotten worse. I may as well have just let the two FBI agents that visited me re-register me libertarian or something.

Vice Chair / CCA Chair:

I have also been told by firsthand accounts that the third candidate in the Vice Chair race has been getting help from the woman who blew up the CCA, Michelle Guerra and has been attempting to peel supporters of the second candidate off. I have come across multiple instances of this.

Once again, Conservatives refuse to unify (and should have behind Corrin Rankin anyway) and now rifts are being widened. To what end?

There will be a side effect of this effort – as it will impact the CCA Race. Given that candidate 2 for CAGOP Vice Chair is a county chair himself and that Guerra and others are now actively trying to wreck him… what happens to the coalition they were trying to create for their candidate for CCA Chair? (once again Conservatives could not settle on one candidate as there are two opponents)

It gets worse, I’ve learned that some County Chairs have accused Candidate 2 of screwing over Anna Kramer who is allegedly the pick of the opposition., Kramer is the third candidate for CCA Chair (Guerra is the second). This is odd as Kramer and Candidate 2 for CRP Vice Chair are connected publicly! Has Anna Kramer abandoned Candidate 2 as well? Update: have now been told that Kramer is indeed advocating for candidate 3 and has thrown candidate 2 for CRP Vice Chair aside despite the online endorsement and collaboration.

Talk about undisciplined! Talk about a circular backstab squad. OUCH.

Again, Conservatives should have unified behind John Dennis for CCA Chair.

These fractures are heartbreaking, but are not surprising. Candidate 2 for Vice Chair deserves better than what is being done to him. The Conservative movement deserves better than a circular firing squad. I personally should not be here writing a blog wondering why I put myself at personal risk for this entire crew, but I am.

Does this bad behavior affect other candidates running for smaller CAGOP office?

We’re going to find out soon…

  1. Sadly…The so-called “Republican Conservative Coalition” is more aptly named “The Bob Michel Caucus”. The so-called leaders of the Conservative are fat, dumb and happy being in the permanent minority…

  2. What’s up with this RCCC movement. We just had a CRA meeting in Sacto, and that group was brought up. I would like to know more about them, or any info YOU may find out. Thanks ! One main topic they raised at our meeting, was to attempt to stop the proxy voting process. Seems a LOT of money is gained, by Delegates ‘ buying” proxy votes from others. To me, the simple solution would/should be: if you vote, pay for a vote at registration. If you vote with 5 proxies, you pay for 5 additional registrations. I’ve already heard of rumors from ” inside the beltway ” that the R-side (in short) sucks. The state level plays ‘ kingmakers’ but NOT for our benefits, only theirs. Insiders want a seat at the table, a paycheck from the group, and that’s it. What other reason is there, for the R-side to be missing from CA? Bad leadership? If anything written here proves the point, then how on earth are these folks getting into office? Of course there are no R-candidates running, why should they? Our side seems content to NOT help our R-side candidates. Those that ARE in our assembly, may as well go home, since the nine of them collectively can’t do anything unless the D-side allows it. I hope those who at tend this convention coming up, manage to make(or force) some needed changes. Dang shame.

  3. I have been attending the steering committee of the Tea Party Caucus for about a year. Here’s the deal. The CRA is a strong group with many chapters, the College Republicans and young and have not really been that involved….and unfortunately the Tea Party Caucus is no more than a caucus or conservative GOP delegates. I can find no evidence an affiliation with real Tea Party groups….or even that there still are Tea Party groups active anymore in California. So Steve Frank, who is a consultant, is kind of leading a collation of a group of Tea Party delegates, the lager powerful CRA and the non-participating College Republicans. We need to be a united team at the convention, but so far I am not impressed with the RCC or what it is doing….and if I was the leadership on the CRA I would wonder who the affiliation actually is (but I am not CRA leadership) ….Just being blunt! But I will hope for the best.

  5. I am a delegate and get along well, built some friendships with most candidates running this time around. Post convention I am maintaining all friendships. My ask is we all reach out to people mentioned in this blog and ask for comment. Rumors which are increasing getting close to March and 2nd hand information is not truth.
