SD37 Race – Moorlach vs Wagner, why should we care?

by | Feb 3, 2015 | Don Wagner, John Moorlach, SD37 Race

SD37 is a long way from where I sit as a constituent of Jim Nielsen (SD04) and I live a few miles from the massive 13 county SD01. That’s the way districts are up yonder.

In Orange County, a Senate District nets you 1/4 of the county.

John Moorlach is a former Orange County Supervisor who, like an aging actress is still trying to dine on her good looks, is still living off of his reputation for “saving” Orange County.

So the story goes, Orange County was the most massive municipal bankruptcy of its’ time and Moloch was instrumental in saving Orange County from the Abyss.

Well, a closer look shows that we have a problem. Moloch has a massive nest egg built up courtesy of Orange County Taxpayers and he was a serial tax raiser.

Did Moloch balance the County Budget on the backs of Orange County Taxpayers? We shall investigate that further. Suffice to say, Moloch voted in favor of over 150 “special” assessments totalling a staggering 1/2 Billion Dollars in taxes on the citizens of Orange County. When you look at that, it suggests that Moloch may well have sacrificed fiscal conservatism on the altar of big government.

Now, I get to ask why the anti-establishment people are supporting Moloch? Could it be his support of legal weed? It can’t be that simple… trade in $500+ million in taxes for some ganja?

It certainly can not be because Moloch opposes term limits. Term limits are another sacred altar of the anti-establishment movement.

So much confusion here… your intrepid blogger seeks to shed light on Moloch so that the voters can make an informed decision right after their St. Paddy’s day soirees.

Let’s see – Don Wagner, the eeeeeevil “Establishment” Guy? 92.3% lifetime CRA Score? There aren’t a whole lot of those in California.

I suppose that Wagner’s stellar voting record does not come with a massive, bloated pension and 1/2 Billion in new taxes. Seems like SD37 ought to be a slam dunk decision.

P.S. Moloch has $8,000 in the bank. Oops. Why is he running again?
