AD-04 Update: John Allard Mailer best of Campaign Thus Far

by | Feb 9, 2011 | 4th Assembly District Race, Beth Gaines, John Allard | 4 comments

Cheryl Bly-Chester’s cable TV buy has fizzled and her Radio ads have also decreased in frequency.

Rob Matthews, Matt Williams and Mike O’Connor have yet to do any sort of advertising (except for appearances, etc). Bo is Bo.

Beth Gaines is on the radio with a small buy on a few stations and got out the first peice of mail with a mediocre effort.

Front-Runner John Allard, (The front-runner of the 7 Republicans on the ballot that will likely finish in second place to Labor Union Moonbat Dennis “Campy” Campanelle for the top-two runoff) had his first mail peice hit and it was a solid effort.

Front Page – the Hi, I’m John page. He describes California with the term, “Nanny government”. This is not often seen on a mailer.

The back page – the three bullets. Just three in keeping with proven patterns of marketing. I take note that he mentions English comprehension under his education bullet. John Perez and his fellow communists in the assembly will be most displeased.

The inside Left – the why I’m your candidate page. This is the key:

1. It highlights a real record of owning a business.

2. It highlights specific examples of involvement in the community.

3. It has a picture of John and Lisa Allard on it.

The inside Right – the Ask for your business page. This is what many candidates forget to do – close the sale.

All and all, this mailer is an 7.5. It is easy to read, appealing and was not as busy and low-budget looking as the first Gaines peice. I’d assume that Beth has a few more bucks to spend so her second and third peice should be a bit more pointed.

7.5 is about the highest score I give a positive peice, because I like hit pieces the most (Imagine that).

  1. Aaron, do you live in Roseville? I’m asking because I want to know if you’ve ever watched a city council meeting with Mr. Allard present. If you have, then you will know that he has voted in favor of every tax or fee that has come down the pike. As a typical self-serving, blowhard, he made long-winded speeches that sounded vaguely conservative in their rhetoric. But in the end he went along “with staff recommendations” in the parlance of city speak. He acted like a typical tax-and-spend liberal, throwing public money at dubious projects to satisfy development interests, because that’s what the city manager wanted.

  2. A first class mailer: I would not have expected anything less from John — he’s a class act conservative through and through. Do you notice how detractors are focused on making sure their negative comments are made even when they are related to the subject being discussed?

  3. We have now come full circle – the Niello attack is now being used by Ted Gaines.

“Don’t vote for him because he’s a liar”. In Niello’s case it was – at least I am honest about raising taxes 12.6 Billion versus Ted who took $120K in Per Diem.

In Beth’s case – it is I am honest about being a real business owner… FAIL.

  4. Fact Check. The Bly-Chester buy is continuing exactly the same as it started and the cable buy is larger than it started.
