A couple of capitol staffers indicated that they were asked to attend a Beth Gaines fundraiser for “Third House” Donors downtown at Gallagher’s (sp?)
Usually, when staffers are asked to attend a fundraiser, it is to give an appearance boost to the attendance. Sam Aanestad’s ill-fated Lt. Governor campaign employed similar circumstances… it is generally an indication of lagging donations and attendence when that happens.
(Third House is a term used to refer to Lobbyists and corporate donors)
Nevertheless, Beth Gaines’ first mailer was economical and it looks as if neither of the major candidates for AD-04 will have a “ton” of money.
As of the wiritng of this post – John Allard has now raised more than $100K.
Folks, this campaign is going to be brief and intense.
Don’t you think there will be a run-off?
Oh, yeah – too many candidates and even if Allard gets to $200K it won’t be enough to get him 50+1

Gaines’ allowed their egos to get in the way of what’s best for the District — which is a GOP representative rather than a Democrat rep. Too bad.
