Don’t just sit there and rage! Your intrepid blogger wants YOU to know that YOU can visit the beautiful Southern Oregon Coast. It is called the “Banana Belt and the Adventure Coast” – the Banana Belt reference is not about Lincoln City Hall, but to the mild climate here. You see, it is rarely colder than 45 here and rarely warmer than 75! Sometimes, you can hike the beach in a t shirt in January! (Although the average Californian would freeze here constantly)

There are a couple of good hotels here and a lot of great places to eat a meal. But the real draw is the slower pace of life and the scenery. There is a warning though, the Nearest Truck Stop is a Love’s in Winston Oregon, some 85 miles away on I-5. I wanted to make sure I warned all of you up front about that.

Sure, the Southern Oregon Coast is semi isolated, I-5 is 85 miles away, Roseburg is 87 Miles away, Costco is 87 Miles away. Trader Joe’s is in Eugene 166 miles away. So when you come visit, remember to pack extra medication as the nearest inpatient mental health facility is a small facility in Coos Bay 30 miles north, but really the nearest is in Eugene. Your intrepid blogger cares. The ocean is healing and relaxing but I understand that some have voices in their heads they just can’t quiet.

While I am recommending some psychiatric care for Ms. Balderas (come on over, lots of Birdies, Harbor Seals and other critters, too!), allow me to mention that I have been a paid political dude for a while. Your Intrepid blogger did literally recruit Noreen and some others for Placer GOP Cent Com against Spencer Short and others – back in 2008! The problem is that it is 2026 and if Spencer was running against Holly, I’d be helping him.

I was thinking about how things change as I was traversing the sands of the Bandon National Wildlife Refuge. Been a long ride in the political saddle and many more years coming. HUGS! Come on over, the water’s fine!
