It does. Dave Gilliard is an excellent consultant and gets some top-drawer stuff made.
The flyer istself is a good entree in to the campaign strategy of Beth Gaines.
The Front Side is the first place you see Ted Gaines anywhere – on the very back (if folded) in the quintessential family photo at a distance.
Secondly – the brochure uses 4 bullets instead of the usual three. It features Pro-Life and Pro-Gun in an attempt to get to the right of CRA-Endorsed John Allard.
The Back Side has the candidate-in-the-office picture with the quote. It has two pictures at Kinesel’s Body shop – longtime friends of the Gaines family.
It references illegal immigrants, overtaxation, the need for job growth and WHOA! The Roseville City Manager!
Not bad – a subtle hit on John Allard and an easy shot at anyone from local government that runs for partisan office.
All in all the strategy is clear:
Get to the right of Allard
Avoid Nepotism while hoping to capitalize on the name ID.
That may be too tall of an order.
P.S. Beth indicated at the South Placer Women’s meeting that she has been out walking precincts as well, so I’d assume some of you may see this peice on your doorstep.

Yes, a good shot at Allard, but the nepotism issues is always front and center, it can’t be avoided. The Gaines’ support the nepotism in politics as it’s been explained that prominent party members should control the ranking of candidates on party lists for elections, and a candidate’s place on a list determines whether or not he or she is elected. The justification for the phenomenon is the importance of name recognition for collecting votes — who cares what’s best for voters.
We have condemned this practice in third world countries (President Hosni Mubarak, Egypt, President Hugo Chavez and Cilia Flores, president of the Venezuela National Assembly, are also known for their influences to get family members in the government). Flores managed to place relatives in as many as nine of sixty permanent positions at the National Assembly- three siblings, two nephews, a cousin, the mother of that cousin, her mother-in-law and an aunt.
