IT looks like Scott Alvord is going to run a nasty campaign after all.

For those of you not up to speed: Scott Alvord is a democrat City Councilmember in Roseville. His District is far west Roseville where Jack Duran Lives. Alvord has endorsed against Congressman McClintock and against Assemblyman Kevin Kiley.

Jack Duran got hammered by Bonnie Gore in 2018 by around 20 Percentage Points. It appears that Jack Duran, the Mazareti-Driving Trial Lawyer has not had has ass kicked bad enough. Duran, on behalf of Scott Alvord channels his inner communist with a slew of hyperbolic comments about a man who is not even a candidate for Roseville City Council. It also appears that Duran is bitter and hates Republicans as a breed based on his blanket comments.

Unfortunately for Scott Alvord, this is a lead weight around his neck as Roseville City Council District 5 breaks down as follows:

District 5 (Alvord)

Total – 23,469

Rep – 8,710

Dem – 7,816

No Party Pref – 5,406

NPP voters do not take kindly to extremism. They also do not like Trial Lawyers as a breed (Duran is a personal injury attorney). They also are not thrilled with the extreme left and their rage against Cops – including the Personal Injury Attorney’s cheap shots at a former employee of the San Jose PD that had nothing to do with the actions of the 4 accused. Duran obviously got his law license for reasons other than his test scores or grades in law school as any amateur jurist would know better.

One thing Alvord can count on is that Republicans will find out about this sort of rhetoric coming out of his campaign. It is a bad look. The correct course of action would be for Alvord to tell Jack Duran publicly to stop attacking police and his Republican constituents.

Disclaimer: This is the opinion of Aaron F Park as an individual, and does not Represent any group I am affiliated with.

John Allard is a Conservative, and always has been.

Bonnie Gore the same.

I have known John Allard since about 2008 and I knew Bonnie Mertus when she worked for Rico Oller, first meeting her 17 years ago. The relationships go back a long way. Both have been remarkably consistent and as such are desperately needed on the Roseville City Council. They both have had my endorsement for a long time.

This election cycle finds me supporting two Democrats and two independents across all the local offices and actually voting for the two dems. That brings my lifetime total to 4 dems and two independents.

The Roseville Chamber of Commerce is ardently opposed to Scott Alvord and also made a baffling endorsement of Richard Roccucci.

I have known Phil Ozenick as long as I have known Bonnie Gore and much longer than I have known John Allard. I have seen firsthand, Ozenick campaigning for liberal democrats over Republicans in one-on-one races… including in 2012 when he was walking precincts against Kirk Uhler and stealing his signs. I caught him on camera posting signs for Rene Aguilera in 2014, a man who is widely reviled in Roseville. And as I was typing this, he is out removing Julie Hirota and Andrew Tagg signs and putting Aguilera signs in their place.

Mr. Ozenick is also 92 years old. He should be writing his memoirs not running for office. His life story is amazing, even when he is not embellishing it. I’d buy a copy of his book!

I like the old man, I really do despite him trying to wipe out Kirk Uhler – but he has opposed progress in Roseville since the day my family came here in 1997. I’ve also yet to see him really do much if anything to help elect any Republicans running for office.

politics4Richard Roccucci is a liberal democrat, easily to the left of Scott Alvord ( who actually is a dem). Seeing the endorsements Roccucci got from groups that normally opposed him gave me severe pause. I have theories as to what happened that I will share at a time of my choosing.

Pictured here is Roccucci a “Republican” with Rene Aggielairuh and other Local Dem Leaders at a Richard Pan reception.

For those of you living under a rock – Richard Pan beat Andy Pugno for Assembly, stealing a GOP seat (that is still in the hands of Ken Cooley) in 2010. Pan is also the author of the nazi forced vaccination bill and Roccucci helped him in to office with Rene Aguilera.

politics5If you don’t believe me, look at the second photo of Roccucci with Chief Ganja Jack Duran, Rene Aguilera and the aforementioned Richard Pan.

At least Scott Alvord is honest about his political allegiance while Mr Ozeinck and Roccucci are not. I give Alvord hell over his support of Hitlary Clintion while I have no doubt that Ozenick and Roccucci are voting for her while being registered Republicans.

Scott Alvord supported expanding the Galleria. Scott Alvord supported building the Fountains. Neither “Republican” Roccucci or Ozenick did, as they are both famous NIMBY’s. Yet, somehow business groups are supporting Richard Roccucci now?

While a lot of people I respect have coalesced behind Roccucci, I can’t. I have done professionally what I was hired to do without complaint, and when called upon to help local business groups I will do so again in the future. These are good people that made a bad choice.

I know Richard Roccucci is a “nice guy”. I get that, he was very warm and friendly when I saw him at an event for a client who withdrew from the Council Race. Should Roccucci get elected, I am sure the other council-members will be able to work with him to try to get him to come along on a few things. I don’t dislike Roccucci, I disagree with him a lot as he is a liberal democrat that is a registered Republican.

(Roccucci was also central in getting the League of Placer County Taxpayers fined $5000 by the FPPC in a past election over a paperwork snafu. That would be the same League that is supporting him today at the behest of Roccucci’s sudden business group suitors.)

Scott Alvord? The same business groups dislike him a lot, I am not sure what the issue is beyond personality. My issue with Scott Alvord is that he is on the endorsement list of every democrat running for local office (and President) and I see him endorsing few, if any of the Republicans. This is a problem for me.

For me – I agree with Allard and Gore 90% of the time, I agree with Alvord 50%, Roccucci and Ozenick 10%. Since there are 5 people running for three seats – there is the scorecard.

Roseville City Council Update: Richard Rocucci’s Union Gambit (a Dem Slate?)

Richard Pan, Richard Roccucci, Roseville City Council 2016  Comments Off on Roseville City Council Update: Richard Rocucci’s Union Gambit (a Dem Slate?)

politics4 In case you have not heard, Richard Rocucci is back.

Rocucci is in the center of this picture – to his left is Union Made Brian Vlahos (who I happen to like on a personal level), to his right is Democrat Political Operative Todd Stenhouse and my favorite local elected Rene Aggie-lair-uh.

Now why would a “Republican” like Richard Rocucci be out with the finest of the dem party? Even Andy Sheehy – on the outside left – left the dem party because of things like assisted suicide, and the extremism that has taken over Sacramento. Unlike Sheehy, who is now a DTS because that is who he really is, Rocucci registered Republican to hide who he really is. The dem establishment know he is their friend and they also understand that Pauline Rocucci is not Richard.

Richard recently began popping up on people’s radar screens, penning a letter to the editor and doing the other things you’d expect from an old-school democrat.

Richard is pictured here with Big Daddy, Jack Duran – who I expect to run and hide knowing he is in a supervisor district that is 20 points to the good for Republicans. Duran would risk outing himself is a labor union, left-wing democrat. (oh, wait – I just did that.) You should also recognize now SD06 Senator Richard Pan, the author of the SB277 forced vaccination bill and Aggielairuh. Rocucci keeps really good company.

So the conventional wisdom is that the public employee unions are going to come for their pound of flesh. The Police Officers are still seething over actually having to have to negotiate versus being able to bully their way in to double-digit raises and benefits in perpetuity. Rumor has it that the fire-fighters are equally as angry. One or Both may well be preparing an onslaught for Roseville.

The talk is that Scott Alvord and David Larson ( both of whom have run for Roseville City Council Previously) would round out a Democrat City Council Slate supported by the aforementioned unions.

Allow me to remind you a couple things: David Larson is very hard left and is also openly gay. He has supported Republicans in the past for elections based on friendships. I’d assume he will have some support for all the previous reasons listed.

Alvord presents himself as a moderate Democrat businessman. He, unlike Rocucci has stayed true to his political convictions and is still a registered dem. Alvord has a lot of friends in Roseville (including this blogger, who will not be able to consider endorsing him because he is a democrat), and will be a credible candidate.

Rocucci, on the other hand, has a long history of being wrong on almost every issue that matters to Roseville:

Opposed the Galleria – even supporting a local measure that would have forced all large developments on to the ballot at the expense of the developer.

Opposed the Fountains

Attempted to derail transportation improvements – like the Cirby Way and the Harding/Galleria road widening that have reduced accidents

Was involved in forcing the bizarre design of the 65 freeway due to his participating in opposing all growth of any kind at any time.

Attempted to mess up the planning of the downtown revitalization – preferring low/slow growth options that would have been a money loser for the city.

… and would be a reliable vote for the unions to bust the city’s budget. (Remember all the 4-1 votes when Richard was last on council?)

Based on what I know of Scott Alvord, the above agenda sounds way too extreme for him. I’d hope that this “slate” was someone else’s idea and that Scott is along for the ride. David Larson? He and Rocucci may be in competition for who is the most liberal candidate running for Roseville City Council. Whether Alvord is along for the ride or is an active participant with the other two – it will not end well for the three of them.

Look at why Trump is getting traction. It has nothing to do with anything other than people are angry. If you think people in Roseville are not angry, and/or worried about their financial future while the democrats in Sacramento are continuing their rampage year after year making it worse – think again.

Roseville may be one of the best places to live in California, but the reasons why are what this slate will be fighting against. Think it through.
