Lauren Stephens by her own admission started the SB277 recall and then recruited Tim Donnelly to head it because she believed that the more legitimate, mainstream effort was to cover Senator Andy Vidak.

Lauren hates Vidak. She hates Scott Walker. She ran for Congress in 2012 against a Republican incumbent and mustered 17% of the vote. She should join CRA, she’d fit in well.

The problem is that Lauren is not a registered Republican anymore. Many of her friends on the fringes of the tea party, have left the GOP. Yet, most still try to meddle in the GOP.

About a week ago, it became clear, even to Lauren that the SB277 referendum effort was terminally doomed. So, she bailed out and left Tim Donnelly holding the bag. Tim Donnelly had ostensibly joined the effort to promote his radio show. Most of the event flyers I got for organizing rallies looked like Tim Donnelly Radio Show events.

It looks like the Tim Donnelly – Lauren Stephens mutually parasitical relationship ran its’ course when there was no more money to be made.

Some honest people are trying to salvage the effort – despite Tim Donnelly’s narcissism. Donnelly is fond of telling donors he is the most hated man in the legislature – yet is too clueless to realize that is tantamount to advertising, “I am a loner and I have no friends”, to donors who close their checkbooks and exit.

I have zero confidence that Donnelly will get out of the way. My intel says that Donnelly has run off dozens of would-be high-dollar donors to the effort.

The volunteers have gathered some signatures, but no one will ever know how many as Lauren Stephens was controlling everything in the campaign until she bailed out and left Tim Donnelly holding the bag. Stephens is reputed to have all the filled out petitions and is reputed to be refusing to share them with Donnelly.

Basically, the SB277 referendum was a sham, it has to have been. But, we told you so on this blog from the outset and despite the threats to me personally and to my business, it has played out.

At least one other person appears to be a victim in this caper – Mike L. from Santa Cruz. Mike was pictured with the boxes of petitions that were actually printed. Mike was distributing them. Has Mike been paid? I bet not.

How much money was raised? What was done with it – other than the pathetic print job of 100k petitions (if indeed that many were printed)? Maybe the FPPC should look in to this?

It doesn’t stop there – Lauren Stephens has reinvented herself. She is back to the SB277 Recalls.

Senator Jeff Stone was served two weeks ago. Senator Richard Pan (who is actually a democrat for a change) was served.

There is an effort being leveled against Assembly-member Catharine Baker and Senator Andy Vidak. This is insane.

It makes perfect sense that a group of so-called conservatives would target vulnerable republicans in seats that are swing districts (or worse in Vidak’s case) .

I leave you with this thought from a national columnist about the impetus behind Donald Trump’s early success, because the behavior is on display with the anarchists that are seeking to help the dems regain their super-majorities:

…. But instead of the far left or the far right, he (Trump) speaks for the sarcastic hate-tweeters, the anti-everything nihilists and the conspiracy theorists who write convoluted, anonymous comments at the bottom of news articles. He’s simply taken their outraged feelings out of cyberspace and translated them into real life.

Coming soon to your district, a nihilistic void.

How many of you remember Prince Potemkin’s deception of Catherine the Great? The prince knew his fiefdom was a disaster. He set up an elaborate ruse to fool the Czar in to thinking everything was ok.

Potemkin staged a series of displays (think 1700’s here) in order to give the appearance that his fiefdom was the best in the Russian Empire.

Facebook allows people to do similar things – used effectively, it can project an image. However, in the world of politics, observers are used to being deceived, lied to, snowed, fed straw-men and otherwise spun.

This means then that smart political operatives are cynical and observant. The really smart operatives also understand that most people want to avoid conflict and would rather do nothing than act – especially in the face of controversy.

The combination of the two mean that effective political operatives who are personally corrupt, or are clinical are extremely deadly because few if anyone will stand up to them.

This is why scams are common in politics.

Some screenshots that made their way to me included some nuggets about the voracity of the SB277 campaign.

I also know that the proponents are responding to this blog in real time.

I also know that they have little or no resources and are counting on a naive volunteer base to continue to solicit more funds.

Witness, “We have 100,000 petitions” in one comment. (psst, you need 380,000 valid signatures to qualify)

“We have had a number of questions about the number of petitions we are allowed to give out to individuals…”

There is no legal limit on the number of petitions that can be handed out. Donnelly knows this. Lauren Stephens knows this. This means that they are out of money and are having to ration petitions.

Every initiative / referendum campaign I have been involved in gives out petitions liberally to anyone that wants them… so seeing comments about the campaign needing to monitor all the petitions in real time suggests that they are indeed short of resources.

“Our goal is to turn in 400,000” – this is what you say when you know your effort is lackluster in order to lower expectations. This is similar behavior to past referendum campaigns that have failed spectacularly. Any seasoned campaign operative would understand that you need 1.5 times at least turned in to get the job done. If you are completely dependent upon volunteers, you should shoot for 1.8 times as the error rate amongst non-professionals is extremely high.

I believe the reasons why they are short of resources are that they are completely dependent upon the tea party for their support. Witness the banter on their campaign pages on social media.

Where are the democrats? There were several that voted against the bill. Where are the independents? Why is there no effort to broaden the base?

I believe another reason why they are short of money is that Tim Donnelly is reputed to be receiving advertising revenue for his fledgling radio show from the campaign. This is also alleged to be the reason why Mr. Donnelly was prevented from touring the USA with Donald Trump vis-a-vis, the Trump anti-illegal-immigration tour. (Trump did indeed invite Donnelly to participate)

I learned when investigating Tim Donnelly in 2014 that he is severely in debt. He is also reputed to be in debt to several former constituents of his assembly district. This suggests why he is pushing this ruse as far as he is – even the most attention starved would-be radio stars have limits.

Related to the referendum effort itself, it gets better – if you peruse the “official” SB277 referendum pages… besides seeing that a majority of the support is from out of state, you will see chatter about visiting the DMV, the Social Security Offices, Welfare Offices, etc.

Anyone that knows how to run an effort would tell you that doing any of the above could land you in hot water as the government workers would likely call the cops on you. Why is Lauren Stephens suggesting this? Was this some sort of a post in order to look legitimate?

So then, ask yourself is this thing real? If it is not real, then what other nexus is there for Tim Donnelly and Lauren Stephens other than personal aggrandizement and financial gain?

Meantime, other people that really care about the issue are finding out the brutal reality of the situation:

1. Donnelly is toxic, no one wants to be a part of anything he is headlining.

2. Donnelly is mistreating people that do not do 100% of what he wants them to

3. Lauren Stephens has been scorching the earth behind herself. (the sad fact is that she may be completely unaware of it)

4. Many would-be Donors are using Tim Donnelly as a Judas goat in order to not participate.

5. The supporters of the effort are continuing their paranoid conspiracies against Republican legislators.

No amount of pictures of the same boxes of petitions are going to change the reality. The SB277 referendum appears to be a scam and little more than a way for Tim Donnelly and Lauren Stephens to pay their bills. They need to come clean about what is being done with whatever money they have raised.

When I wrote that they could not afford to print petitions, I meant it. Printing 100,000 petitions (if indeed that assertion is the truth) in order to cover themselves publicly does not cut it. You need 380,000 signatures, you need 3-5 times that many petitions. With 60 days to go and with Mr. Donnelly and Ms. Stephens scorching the earth – the breaking point where it becomes impossible is coming quickly.

Will this charade be worth it to them? Or, worse do they really believe they can win given what they are doing?

Remember when I excoriated Karen England and Company over the AB1266 Referendum? Apparently, they have learned their lesson – partially.

After running what many believed was another fundraiser to Capitol Resource Institute, the thing got legs and damn near qualified.

After leaving California and trying to reinvent herself in Nevada – England got eviscerated in Nevada and appears to be back in California once again trying to run an AB1266 Initiative.

They are still obsessing over the “Bathroom Bill” aspect of the deal – which in a far-left state like California will not resonate the way the fairness in youth sports argument would. Far be it from me to criticize the superior intellects of Ms. England and co.

I think AB1266 is evil. I agree with any effort to overturn it and think those that voted in favor of it have violated the public trust they were elected to serve.

While I detest Karen England – I will endorse the concept of overturning AB1266. I can not and will not aid anything that directly or indirectly benefits the Capitol Resource Institute. I am not alone in that sentiment, which is why I believe that effort will fail.

However, I have been told that England has real professional help. (I wish it included a therapist, but I digress) This could ensure a legitimate effort that has potential to succeed. England has to win this or she is done. I am amazed at her psychotic persistence and how many political lives she appears to have.

This is quite different than the doomed SB277 referendum. It was borne out of the paranoid fantasy of a deranged non-Republican activist in Fresno.

She managed to get one of the most toxic figures in California Politics to front the effort. So far, they lack the funds to even be able to print the petitions if they get a title and summary from the AG’s office this week.

The individual behind the SB277 effort will seek to blame this blogger and the other individual who attempted to file a referendum for the failure of her effort.

However, her own behavior and what she did to more people than just us, along with Tim Donnelly will seal its’ doom.

The Bottom Line is that legislators on both sides will not be involved with anything Tim Donnelly – and Donnelly knows this.

The Bottom Line is that donors have used Donnelly as a Judas Goat in order to refuse to act, or they have used the age-old excuse of “Not getting in the middle of a fight” as an excuse.

So – while the petitioner satisfied her inner desire to get even with “the other guy”, she has succeeded in screwing the parents of California out of a chance for justice. Meantime, Tim Donnelly got another 15 minutes to delude himself he is important.

Man, California is screwed up.

P.S. as a total irony – Then Assemblymember Tim Donnelly was the lone vote in favor of the Confederate Battle Flag while running for governor in 2014. In light of current events, something about a broken clock and something about having no political awareness…

The Tale of Two SB277 Referendum Efforts

Let me preface this post by saying that I have met a few people lately within the Tea Party that are causing me to re-think my animosity towards the Tea Party.

I say that even as the Tea Party that I know is rearing it’s naive, reactionary, self destructive head with regard to the SB277 referendum effort.

The attack of the Lauren Stephens Team is the usual, Park derangement syndrome, peppered with the “he hates Donnelly”stuff. A handful of blind moonbats, all of whom claim public association with the tea party have drank the kool-aid and followed along.

So let’s go down the how to not to Win a Referendum, Lauren Stephens Style… kind of like a tutorial.

1. You do not start a referendum claiming a conspiracy to cover for an elected that you hate. (I am not referring to Scott Walker, I am referring to a state senator in California)

2. You do not attempt to change the narrative after you file a referendum. This would include claiming that a prominent signature gathering firm in California gave you the advice and direction to do so.

3. You can not amend a passed and signed bill via a referendum. Claiming as such is another lie.

4. 5000 Facebook likes? You need 380K valid signatures. How many live in California? How many will actually get out and work?

5. No successful referendum has ever passed led by someone that files frivolous complaints and lawsuits. Even Karen England understood this. Filing complaints and bragging about them publicly is called bullying, kind of like getting beat up by your husband while he blames you for it.

6. Tim Donnelly is toxic. He will appeal to the same types of people that you can lie to and get to parrot personal attacks against Conservative leaders, but he can not appeal to independents, democrats nor anyone of color. Doesn’t leave much left of this pie, does it?

7. Attacking the proponent of a legitimate referendum effort by public slander, claiming his effort is bogus, then text messaging him offering a deal suggests that you are suffering from multiple personality disorder and that is certainly no way to win a referendum statewide.

8. Placing serial phone calls and text messages to a variety of people in California and telling several of them a different story when they do call you back is a disturbing behavior pattern.

9. You attempted a recall, you could not even get it served on to the intended victim. Why do you think you can run a referendum?

The above have nothing to do with an insurance policy. They have to do with character and political sense.

Lauren Stephens has demonstrated through her behavior that she is unstable and untrustworthy. I could think of no better partner for her than Tim Donnelly.

They are her words and her deeds. It does not matter if her Tea Party squad are impervious to the truth – fortunately they only get one vote.

Meantime – those of us that represent anything other than the fringe need to go stick up for the parents of California as I believe that Lauren Stephens cares more about her case of Park Derangement Syndrome, and her desire to help the Dems re-take SD14, than she does nailing Richard Pan to the wall.

Is the Donnelly SB277 Referendum All About a Personal Grudge Against Andy Vidak?

Stephens Chat 001Some of you saw the limited media coverage about former Assembly-member Tim Donnelly sponsoring a referendum against the SB277 forced vaccination bill.

As you can see from this facebook chat – Lauren Stephens, listed as a contact along with Tim Donnelly on the press release calls the legitimate effort to overturn SB277 a sham. She goes on to say that the legitimate effort is trying to tank the issue to cover State Senator Andy Vidak.

Andy Vidak is a Republican who represents a State Senate District that is 20 points tilted in favor of the democrats. I guess Ms. Stephens is attempting to assist the democrat party with her effort? But, then – opposition to SB277 is as strong amongst democrats as it is within Republican ranks.

Ms. Stephens apparently attempted to recall Andy Vidak and then decided that she needed to file a referendum of her own because of her obsession with Vidak.

There is a problem that Ms. Stephens did not count on – multiple people can file referenda on the same issue. She can’t block any effort.

Now, the next question is – what did she tell Tim Donnelly to get him on board?

532995_274842275950319_508487606_n Then there is this – Stephens ran for congress in 2012 against a Republican incumbent. It appears that Stephens likes to cause chaos wherever she goes as the stories of her behavior on the Tim Donnelly for Governor campaign are legion.

Lauren Stephens will have no money. A check of campaign finance records shows that Stephens did not even register on the Open Secrets site. It has come to my attention that Stephens has made a limited number of phone calls to no avail.

If she cares about dealing with SB277 – she should get out of the way. However, if her goal is to introduce California to what Wisconsin expelled, (She hates Scott Walker, BTW) she is on her way and appears to be taking Tim Donnelly down with her.
