In a face-saving move, Mr. Allen has attempted to indicate that he is “Joining” the Carl DiMaio / Howard Jarvis effort to overturn the Gas Tax.
While Travis is claiming to have “Won” the USC Debate on Saturday, the truth is he was booed more frequently than a bad act at the $1.98 beauty show.
Travis Allen got owned bad and since then has been on tilt using democrat talking points to attack John Cox. Just how bad did Travis Allen get owned?
Man, it sucks to be Travis Allen. Daddy took him out behind the woodshed.
Not to be outdone, the John Cox campaign has trolled the youngster (who wears Jeans and no Tie when all others are in a suit for a debate) with an epic campaign email:
The Join Travis Allen to Repeal the Gas Tax Ballot MeasureCommittee passed away quietly in its sleep at 11:59 p.m. on January 8, 2018 after submitting zeroof the required 365,880 signatures.
Born on May 4, 2017, the “effort” was primarily used to justify Assemblyman Travis Allen’s smoke-and-mirrors campaign for Governor. It will be best remembered for deceptively collecting $87,188 from innocent, well-intended donors that just wanted a more affordable California, but Travis Allen just made it cost more of their hard-earned money.
Its passing generated the attention of news outlets throughout California.
The Sacramento Bee:Gas tax repeal appears headed for failure – but voters may get another shot
The San Jose Mercury News:Gas tax repeal sponsored by Assemblyman Travis Allen fails to qualify, but another effort could reach the ballot
The Los Angeles Times:Assemblyman Travis Allen fails to qualify initiative to repeal gas tax, will support campaign for similar measure
Travis Allen’s “effort” is survived by the Stop The Car Tax initiative, which is chaired by John Cox and supported by Carl Demaio, Howard Jarvis Taxpayers, Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and most members of the California Republican Congressional Delegation. The legitimate effort chaired by John Cox has already collected over 400,000 signatures and has until May 21, 2018 to submit the minimum 585,000.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to StopTheCarTax.org if you want to contribute to a real effort to repeal California’s regressive gas and car tax.
Carl DiMaio got in to the act, excoriating the Sacramento Bee – and highlighting how Allen’s self-serving effort hurt all Californians. While Allen was siphoning off much-needed resources from the real effort to overturn the Gas Tax (and volunteers), his duplicate and competing effort was causing confusion. DiMaio did not mince words for Travis Allen either:
I have heard from some of our supporters that they are disturbed about a very confusing story in the Sacramento Bee today with a grossly-flawed headline “Gas Tax Repeal Initiative Fails.” THIS HEADLINE IS DEAD WRONG. The SacBee supports the gas tax hike, and we believe they ran an intentionally misleading headline to dupe voters into not returning the signatures they may still have.
If you read the story, you realize that they are not even talking about our Gas Tax Repeal Initiative. The story is all about Travis Allen’s fake gas tax petition and how he failed to submit even a single signature for his effort. Let me be clear: Travis Allen’s failed effort has had nothing to do with our broad-based coalition.
The REAL Gas Tax Repeal Initiative has collected over 400k signatures in record time, and we are well on our way to the 584k signatures we need! We are collecting signatures at a record-breaking pace.
Please continue to do the AMAZING work you are doing to get and return signatures on this petition. Even as the article concedes, we are well on our way to winning this thing!
Reform California – Gas Tax Repeal Initiative
But wait – there’s more! Travis Allen’s crew created a page to highlight all their trolls that had been blocked off of John Cox social media. Embedded in this post, you will see that Mr. Allen’s glass jaw got the best of him 5 months before election day and I was blocked. If Travis Allen can’t handle Aaron F Park, how can he handle governing California? Perhaps he should tell his crew that having an I’ve been blocked by page up while they are blocking people makes them look ridiculous.
It really sucks to be Travis Allen. He should call Tyler Diep and tell him he is running for re-election to AD72. Tyler Diep should tell Travis Allen to retire. Heck, I might shake young Tyler’s hand if he did that…
