Here’s the score – John Moorlach voted in support of re-authorizing over 180 property tax resolutions while on the OC Board of Supes.

Contrast – Don Wagner opposed a 2 Billion Dollar Car Tax “extension” while in the Assembly. (That Republicans like Kristen Olsen and Frank Bigelow voted yes on) Opposing this tax is one of the reasons why Don Wagner has the “Soft” 93% CRA Score that Moorlach supporters deride.

This opposition to taxing anything and everything is also why the NFIB, The National Small Business Association, CalTax etc etc etc chose Don Wagner over John Moorlach…

The OC Board of Supes voted to pass these property taxes (often with increases) every year and many times John Moorlach was the deciding vote in a 3-2 split.

The average increase in property taxes was $60 million. This means, then that John Moorlach voted to raise your property taxes by nearly 1/2 a billion dollars.

I think I will take that “Soft” 93% Lifetime CRA Score (See also Don Wagner). (even if the CRA decided to endorse against that 93% CRA Score)

P.S. The CRA Endorsed John Moorlach – I am retaining my right to write as an individual, not as an officer of CRA.

Don Wagner gave $2000 to Donnelly for Governor. Yes, THAT Tim Donnelly.

Leaders help others, often times at their own expense. Don Wagner has given over $300k to other Republican Candidates for office in the last two cycles.

While Team Moorloch derides these Republican Candidates as “Lackluster” – when it comes time for tax increases and they stop them dead, thank people like Don Wagner for doing his part to help us all.

A search of records shows that John Moorlach has made a single donation of $200 to Prop 38 some years ago. I could not find his name on campaign finance records in the last two cycles, except on his own Committee.

Take a look at Team Wagner’s loads of money to help expand the reach of the GOP in California. Let’s start with $15,000 to the OC GOP in just the 13-14 Cycle alone.

But wait, there is so much more:

$50,000 to the CAGOP

$25,000 to the California Republican Leadership Fund

$4100 to Young Kim

$4100 to Janet Nguyen X 2

$4100 to Andy Vidak – who held a State Senate District with a 20 point Dem Registration Advantage

$4000 To Catherine Baker – who picked up a democrat leaning Assembly District in the Bay Area.

$2000 to David Hadley – who picked up a democrat leaning Assembly District in the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

$4100 to Mario Guerra a socially conservative businessman/lay pastor who nearly won a 20 point dem state senate district in East LA.

and a host of other contributions to candidates running around the state – including $1000 to former CRA VP Craig Alexander.

And, have a look at the over $100,000 Don Wagner gave to other Republicans in 2012.

This matters if you care what kind of state we are going to have in the future – it is so much more than the right rhetoric. We need to break the cycle of lone wolves that sit in safe seats doing nothing to expand the party – this is one of the main reasons why I support Don Wagner. John Moorlach first took office when I was in the military. He has had ample opportunity to lead in this area and has not.

The CRA Scorecard has existed for 15 years and it is a measure of performance. There have been many times where the CRA has endorsed against someone with a 90% lifetime score. I am pointing out Don Wagner’s CRA Score because it shows him to be a conservative. Period. We all know t hat the local CRA Chose Moorloch despite Wagner’s proven record. That is their right.

John Moorloch is not without his share of “imperfections”

A couple of “minor examples” are as follows – Opposing Local control and supporting gutting term limits.

In 2006 – Moorloch endorsed Measure N, a local measure intended to lengthen Term Limits for County Supervisors. He also worked to pass it. The voters rejected it. Late in his second term, he floated another proposal that his fellow supervisors torpedoed.

John Moorloch opposed a plan by Rossmoor to contract Police Services from the OC Sheriff’s Department.

The problem here is that there is no “perfect” candidate. The anti-Wagner people have chosen to invoke Wagner’s donations from Public Safety Unions and his support of some terrible candidates who were/are connected to Pringle Claus. But, here is John Moorloch doing a couple of very un-conservative things. The record does not lie.

I value Wagner’s contributions to the State GOP. We all should. This is the nexus for someone like me to care so much about the SD37 race – not only is Moorloch flawed on many levels in policy, he has no pattern of helping elect other Republicans at all.

Wagner has helped many and we need that to continue.

P.S. Please allow me to remind the readers that my opinions are my own, and do not reflect those of the State CRA.

In order for the State of Jefferson to work, they have to have Placer County. Placer is by far the wealthiest county in the proposed state and is pivotal to it’s success.

Kirk Uhler has had a history of supporting splitting the state and was running point in the Placer County situation.

Then the NorCal Tea Party attacked Kirk Uhler, falsely claiming that he is single-handedly attempting to engineer a tax increase in Placer County.

Uhler contacted the people in NorCal Tea Party he had been working with and instead of correcting the record on the false email – in true Tea Party fashion, they doubled-down.

Worse, the NorCal Tea Party cited their sources for the false information and then refused to have the executive director of the PCTPA come to their group.

The NorCal Tea Party just shot their biggest ally for the State of Jefferson, and thus, the movement in Placer is dead.

I believe that the next move for the NorCal Tea Party is to triple down and attempt to run candidates for supervisor in order to avoid ever having to correct the record for the lies they spread.

(It has also been 4+ years since they leveled corruption charges against the past Placer GOP leadership, which have still never been proven and of course they still believe)

#SD37 Update: Immigration Part 2, Moorlach said WHAT???

Immigration, this is an issue that the GOP has blown chunks on. It is an issue used to hammer the GOP unfairly as racist. Like the Abortion Issue (see also “legitimate rape”) the GOP continues to shoot itself in the head with purely stupid public statements.

As someone who believes in removing quotas and a path to legalization (not citizenship) so that people coming here can be screened for disease and criminal history first, then a system that actually lets these immigrants work in the light of day instead of hiding, it galls me to see the Racism of both the left and the right on this issue. (in addition to the non-racist stupidity)

Racism? Yes, it is a purely racist statement to say, ” ‘they’ will do jobs others won’t do”. Well, John Moorlach has said some bizarre things on this issue himself…

John Moorlach proposed a special tax on Illegal Immigrants.

In a 2/7/2007 Orange County Register Article, John Moorlach proposed another tax, beyond the 150+ the he voted yes on.

Moorlach figures a fine between $250 and $400 per inmate should generate the $3.5 million annual subsidy advocated by the Hospital Association of Southern California to help them recover the costs of providing services.

Local activists were stunned by the idea.

“Truly inhuman,” said Amin David, president of Los Amigos of Orange County. “I just can’t fathom it. I thought I’d heard everything. It just doesn’t stop.”

“I’m not proposing penalizing every undocumented person, I’m just going after those who have been arrested,” said Moorlach. “I’m just using a model that our state legislature has provided.”

State Sen. Lou Correa also slammed the idea.

“Nobody talks about the benefits that the undocumented bring to this economy. It’s sad. These people can’t vote and they don’t have a say, so they’re a target.”

Why is a solution to a societal problem a new tax? How is this conservative? Lou Correa is wrong on one hand and right on another – Undocumented is a BS way of saying illegal. However, even an idiot like Correa gets some issues right with the concept of hanging a target on these people.

Last time I checked, the County of Orange does not have the authority to set immigration policy. Secondly, what a great outreach message to minorities from Mr. Moorlach. I wonder what further brilliance Mr. Moorlach intends to bring to the GOP if elected… because we know he will sit in office and do nothing to expand the party based on his past behavior.
