NorCal Tea Party Update: Day 12 of their Lie and Counting

In case you missed it, the NorCal Tea Party lied in an email.

They accused Placer County Supervisor Kirk Uhler of single-handedly conspiring to raise our taxes. Their attack was so ill-conceived that they told people to call the Placer County Board of Supervisors.

The NorCal Tea Party could not even attack the right government entity in their lie! The PCTPA is looking at ways to fund much-needed Road improvements in Placer, not the Board of Supes!

The attack was so absurd that liberal Democrat Jennifer Montgomery went to the most recent Auburn Meddlers meeting and set the record straight. That’s correct – a liberal Democrat told the truth and the NorCal Tea Party lied.

Something about that has to be unconstitutional.

Undaunted – the NorCal Tea Party has dug their heels in. They, like so many other tea parties have determined that even conceding one detail of their attack would be akin to getting captured by ISIS.

At the recent Placer GOP Central Committee Meeting NorCal Tea Party leader Ken Campbell repeated the lie again, including reiterating that it is the Placer County Board of Supervisors promoting the tax.

I wonder if the NorCal Tea Party knows about the 12 year old resentment that Ken Campbell has against Kirk Uhler – Campbell was making unilateral decisions as Chairman of the Placer GOP back then and Cent Com Members Kirk Uhler, Kathy Lund and others called him on it. Ken has never forgiven any of them and has been on a personal vendetta ever since. I doubt anyone in the NorCal Tea party would care if they knew, since the facts don’t matter.

Another Tea Party member of the inept and useless Placer GOP Central Committee asked the question about recruiting Republicans to run against other Republicans in office. (So there’s your context for Ken Campbell’s lie)

If the NorCal Tea Party uses this lie to go after local Republican Electeds (which I believe they will), you read it here first. They will lose and they will lose their credibility forever. But, heck, they will never have to apologize or retract their lie, will they?

… and people wonder why someone as far to the right as I am can’t stand the Tea Party? It was never their principles, it is many in their leadership and the libertarian anarchy that seems to have taken over. The Tea Party refuses to police themselves and in many areas are useless agents of chaos. Only they can stop being stupid – day 12 and counting.

Do I think they will ever retract their lie? Nope – some of the brain-surgeons in their group still think the FBI was investigating my Brother for Embezzlement (It has been 4 1/2 years since the alleged visit to Karen England’s House, btw)

P.S. Thank you Jennifer Montgomery for being an honest liberal and standing up for the truth.

#SD37 Race: Tour-De-Moorlach Update, Debunking the Legacy

I am sure John Moorlach is a good dude, and is also thoughtful. The problem is he thinks too much.

There is a famous quote, “There you go thinking again”. When Moorlach thinks, often times it is not the Conservative Tax-Fighter he wants all of us to think he is…

Here is what we know as of now about the Moorlach Record:

He proposed an illegal alien tax. $250-$400 a piece.

He Tried to Attack Term Limits Twice. This includes actively campaigning for a failed County Ordinance.

He opposed a plan for Rossmoor to contract police services, preferring instead to force them in to a neighboring city.

Moorlach voted in favor of a ton of property tax resolutions, many of which were increases. These totaled at least $480 Million Dollars in Increases. Often times, Moorlach was the deciding vote in a 3-2 Split.

Showing that his pattern of being soft on taxes is nothing new – 20 years ago, Moorlach could not simply say no to a proposed 1/2 cent county-wide Sales Tax Increase.

John Moorlach even favored heavy-handed campaign finance regulations, coming up on the losing end of a 3-2 vote.

Perhaps Moorlach wanted to extend Term Limits and to brutally regulate campaign finance to enhance his own tenure in office? Every time campaign finance limits are imposed, it favors PAC Donors and Incumbents.

Taxes. Term Limits. Campaign Finance. John Moorlach is not who he says he is… to be continued.

Beth Gaines vs Don Wagner – Selfish Premeditation vs Selfless Team Building

Two GOP Assembly-Members.

One faked a resume and went from baking cookies to the State Assembly based on a last name that used to poll well.

The other built a business he actually owned, ran for community college board and then parlayed years of goodwill that was earned through good business and governance in to an assembly seat.

Don Wagner did not know Congressman John Campbell would retire while still young triggering a series of events that would open up a State Senate Seat when he first ran for Assembly.

Beth Gaines has been planning her next run ever since narrowly defeating her opponent in a special election in 2011. I recently updated her office shopping exploits.

There is a concept in politics that the facts don’t matter to a partisan elected, the only thing that does it what affects them and their next campaign. As an activist, I have lived with a generation of term-limit babies that do nothing at all to represent their constituents, but collect their paychecks and plan their next run.

State Senator Jim Nielsen has somewhat broken that mold and I am hopeful that he can help the PCTPA get some funding for the badly-needed transportation projects in Placer County. Ted Gaines and Beth Gaines could not be bothered.

When I write that Beth Gaines is incompetent, I have ample evidence to prove it – including her getting embarrassed on the floor of the assembly.

It is well-known in “the building” that Gaines could not debate on the floor of the assembly as she was incapable of thinking on her feet. It took several years of training for her to be able to do interviews and to be able to speak in public. The bottom line is that she was unqualified to serve when she first ran and we got to suffer being represented by someone who was incompetent and was learning on the job.

Gaines got challenged in 2012. She had no money in the bank and the establishment castigated those that supported her challenger pouring $1,000,000 plus in to Beth Gaines while the GOP lost so many seats they ended up in Super-Minority status in the state legislature. I can not tell you how many people have regretted not helping to get rid of Beth Gaines in 2012 when they had a chance to.

You could say that Gaines incompetence and lack of preparation helped cause the GOP to go in to super-minority status. The GOP leadership who were fearful that a successful challenge to a colleague may threaten their own seats had to cover for Beth Gaines in order to save themselves. There are consequences for faking a resume and getting unsuspecting voters to elect you based on a lie. The State of California suffered for it.

In the meantime – Don Wagner was elected to the Assembly. Unlike Gaines, Wagner did not have to learn his talking points. He did not need training to be able to do an interview. Wagner did not need to be told to work his district – he understood this from his real experience in life and office.

Beth Gaines parlayed the challenge of 2012 to get sympathy donations in 2014 that she is certainly using to seed her account for her next run in 2016… During that same time, Don Wagner was raising money to help other Republicans get elected.

How much did Wagner give away? Nearly $300,000 – some $148k of the money was donated even after Don Wagner knew he would be running for State Senate in 2015 to replace Mimi Walters (who succeeded in the primary to replace John Campbell). This money was donated, never to be seen again by Don Wagner, helping the Republican team to his own personal political peril.

What did Gaines do to “help” the Republican Team? Token amounts to local cent coms (usually event tickets and nothing more) and 5 LOANS to other Republican Candidates. Yes – she expects to get repaid that money this year. You only do this if you know you will be needing that money to run again for another office very soon and that you are either too lazy to raise the money back or you lack confidence that you can raise the money back.

None of the above reflect well on Beth Gaines.

She LENT Rob McCoy $4100, Tom Lackey $4100, Young Kim $4100, David Hadley $4100, and Marc Steinorth $4100.  It is kind of like she didn’t really mean to help any of them.

Gaines is sitting on $205,000 to shop for another office with + the anticipated repayment of those loans. There is one other thing that is not clear – Beth Gaines’ top advisors have told people at various times that the Gaines are still in campaign debt, which is not reflected on their reports. If true, this is a violation of the law (good luck finding or proving it), but also indicates that she may not have real access to the entire $200k+.

Even half of that $200k+ would make Beth Gaines a formidable candidate for a local office of some sort, or that money would be a strong start for a BOE campaign.

Now, contrast this to Don Wagner who basically slit his own throat politically to help others without thinking about his next run.

I can’t believe that I even have to write this blog.

#SD37 Update – John Moorlach Supported Criminalizing Free Speech!?

Voting against the plan were Supervisors Janet Nguyen, Pat Bates and Chris Norby. Such limitations and boards in other Southern California counties have only hurt those candidates who want to challenge incumbents and they are criminalizing free speech, Norby said.

Someone want to tell me what this “Conservative” was thinking, voting yes on this?

John Moorlach voted to muzzle people… while his supporters rail Don Wagner as a RINO (with a lifetime CRA Score of 93%)

“All these do in any of these counties is to force the money underground,” Norby said. “Increasingly, politics is a rich man’s game.”

Such laws have also created the “smear machines” created by committees who make large independent expenditures to candidates, Norby said.

Supervisors Bill Campbell and John Moorlach voted for the plan.

So – John Moorlach, who made as high as $237k a year off of the taxpayers took action to make politics a rich man’s game.

Let’s see, taxing illegal immigrants, waffling on sales taxes, voting for 180 property tax resolutions, hiring Deborah Pauly and of course attacking the first amendment. This is the John Moorlach experience.

#SD37 Update – Did Moorlach support or just dance on a sales tax increase?

Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector John M.W. Moorlach said Monday he will oppose a half-cent sales tax increase designed to help bail out the bankrupt county unless cities, school boards and agencies that would benefit from the tax agree to support it.

When Orange County was on the fiscal brink, John Moorlach could not stand up and say a resolute no to higher taxes. Why?

Quoting the LA Times 4/4/1995 article gives voters a different look than the Moorlach legend we all believe.

What should start to concern us all is the pattern of John Moorlach, tax first, ask more questions later.

A few weeks earlier, then OC Treasurer, John Moorlach was interviewed by the Bond Buyer magazine  3/24/1995 (due to the age, no link exists) saying that the voters of Orange County should decide on a half-cent sales tax increase. “This is a chance for them to weigh in, they need to decide what’s best for their school districts, for their municipalities and for the country.”  (Q And A with John Moorlach, 3/24/1995 The Bond Buyer)

This pattern of supporting Tax Raising was present 20 years ago!

Even when he joined the OC Central Committee in Opposing the Tax Increase on 4/19/1995… he backed away from the vote!

In a sharp split with top Republican government and business leaders in Orange County, the GOP central committee is unanimously opposing a half-cent increase in the sales tax as a means of recovering from bankruptcy.

Among those joining in the central committee’s vote Monday night was Orange County Treasurer-Tax Collector John M.W. Moorlach, who first sounded warnings about the county’s investment practices during a failed election campaign last year.

Moorlach, who was recently appointed to the office he had sought after the resignation of Treasurer-Tax Collector Robert L. Citron, on Tuesday backed away from the central committee vote, saying that he is still “soul searching” on the issue.

“I’m still trying to see what other alternatives we can come up with,” said Moorlach, adding that he probably should have abstained and expects to make up his mind in a few days.

Don Wagner has never supported a tax increase and is lifetime rated 93% by CRA. This is a complete and clear distinction… and this comparison will continue.
