The Sacramento Bee endorsed Scott Yuill for Re-Election – and get this, one of the main reasons they cite:
Ruslin, a city recreation commissioner, boasts a bevy of endorsements from political, business and civic leaders, including Lund and council members Peter Hill and George Magnuson.
If Diana Ruslin was a liberal Democrat – the Bee would hail her endorsement list as proof of her ability to lead. Instead, since she is a Republican Woman – their attitude sounds as if they are annoyed she made it out of the kitchen.
(Probabaly explains why the Bee is apoplectic over the candidacies of Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina)
This statement is key to understanding the chauvinism of the Bee:
but the slight edge goes to Janda because he offers a broader and deeper business background and more potential to be an independent voice.
Either the Bee stated their position poorly – or they really meant to cast Diana Ruslin as a puppet. The only reason could be an institutional bias against Republican Women in politics.
And the second part about Janda’s Business experience – another swipe at a woman whose legacy of community service is unparalleled and an inference that that service and being a full-time mom is inferior to running a business.
Had the arrogant fools on the Bee’s editorial board chosen their words better – I would not be so hot under the collar.
In summary the Bee said:
We support Scott Yuill because he stood tall for a tax and excelled despite all his mistakes.
We support Greg Janda – because Diana Ruslin’s endorsements imply that she is a puppet and because running a business is superior to being a stay-at-home-mom.
Wow. If I was Scott Yuill I’d be embarrassed by this endorsement and if I was Greg Janda – I’d wear a dress for a week with a Breast Cancer awareness ribbon on it… because the Bee just kicked both your a**es while “endorsing” you.
