Former Hewlett Packard Senior Vice President Bill Mutell Sets the Record Straight on Fiorina’s Accomplishments
SACRAMENTO, CA – Former Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing and Global Lead for Government, Health and Education markets for Compaq and Hewlett Packard Bill Mutell today issued the following statement regarding Senator Barbara Boxer’s recent unfounded attacks on Carly Fiorina’s record at Hewlett Packard:
“Carly Fiorina’s tenure at Hewlett-Packard and her leadership of the company through the worst technology recession in a generation was undoubtedly a success. When Carly took the helm at HP, it was well known in the technology industry that, without new leadership that shook up its stagnating culture, the company would have lost its competitive edge and might even have become obsolete.
“I watched as Carly made the tough – and frequently unpopular choices – necessary to transform HP into a market leader. Despite opposition from all sides, she never wavered in her commitment to pursuing what was in the best interest of the company’s long-term health and success. In the end, HP came through the dot-com bust a stronger, more profitable and more innovative company.
“Barbara Boxer, on the other hand, knows nothing about what it takes to run a company in the 21st century. While she continues pushing for bigger government and more than a trillion dollars in higher taxes, companies are struggling under the weight of burdensome regulations and are unable to grow, expand and hire new workers. Under Boxer’s watch, our state and our nation’s economy is headed down the wrong path – and that’s why we need Carly Fiorina to replace her in the U.S. Senate.”
